What a player and a pleasure to have seen him play.

By far the best player I ever saw live, and I saw Beckenbauer, Best and Pele.

This. Best performance by an away player on that night that I have ever seen.

Glad to say I was the game but I was only 8 and all I can really remember (vaguely) are the two late equalisers.

A privilege to be there that night, what a player and what a comeback.  A lesson for people that night; don't leave before the final whistle, when we got into the pub after the match, blokes were moaning about us losing two nil, nothing about the performance of possibly the best player they'd ever seen and when we told them it ended two all we got the usual fuck off, they took a bit of convincing.  Fabulous player, fabulous night and Villa fans showing their class again with the ovation they gave him as he was substituted.

I was there too, as a one eyed 15 year old, and was sulking at the game until the last few wonderful minutes :)

I’d like to say I’m different now but I haven’t really evolved in 40 years

One of the things that really irritated me about our demise in the last decade is that we no longer got the increasingly rare opportunities to see players such as Cruyff, Platini, Boniek and Mattheus because we no longer had any chance of getting into Europe.

Great to see the highlights, I do wish they were longer and the quality better.

Cruyff was just brilliant that night and to think he was not only carrying an injury but was unwell as well. What a brilliant player.

The disappointing thing at the time was that we could have won the 2nd leg and gone through to the next round.

yes, the MWWOW put 10-man Villa ahead, but we couldn't hold on.

Problem was we had to play the second leg on grass, a surface we were unused to.
