It was Besiktas and I think we won both legs. Game at VP was the 2nd leg played on a Wednesday afternoon iirc.

Aston Villa v Besiktas

European Cup, September 1982

Villa were forced to open their defence of the European Cup in an empty stadium. Uefa imposed the order after incidents at the second leg of the semi-final against Anderlecht in the previous season. The Belgian club asked Uefa to expel Villa from the competition but the punishment was a fine of £14,500 and the stadium closure. Villa defeated Besiktas 3-1 at home and then drew 0-0 in Turkey.

Why are people picking Hourihane?

Chelsea are nearly as bad as we are defending corners.

Deano's last match, I think.

Then into lock-down.

Given everything that’s going on around Europe, I can see stadium ban for fans over this weekend and following weekends. Totally understandable as much bigger things going on than football, but that will be one more advantage amongst many advantages that Chelsea, and if it’s Smiths last game, it’ll be a bit tragic that it will be in an empty stadium.

Only half joking in the hope that premier league games are called off for the next few weeks

This is our best most proactive starting XI by putting our best team on the park and we just must try and win the game. That means Conor for his dead ball delivery and 2 up top with Jack playing further forward. Time to take some risks but be more proactive.  No time of Luiz, AEG or Trez in this one.

              Nyland

Elmo    Engels    Mings    Targett

              Nakamba
 SJM                     Hourihane
               Super Jack

         Samatta  Davis

100% loving that line up !!

Elmo and Hourihane were diabolical against Leicester, so not those two please.

I'm usually positive when predicting result but after Leicester City even I'm convinced we will lose to Chelski 3-0.

to be fair to Elmo he was playing out of position and did not seem to know what he was supposed to be doing.
Amazing that Smith had the 2 of them in that midfield.
We are running out of options in there though.
Even with SJM back

Let's face it, until McGinn is back we're a bit fucked in midfield. Even when he is, it's an uphill battle.

BBC reporting 3 Leicester players showing symptoms of covid19, although not confirmed they have it yet. If that is the case wouldn’t be surprised to see our game called off on Saturday. Don’t mean to sound flippant but may be a blessing in disguise.

Chelsea didn't train today as somebody close to the squad was taken ill.

I think given the Spanish leagues been suspended, players in other leagues are now getting it, those Arsenal players being self isolated and as you say Chelsea players, only a matter of time until the premier league is suspended for a couple of weeks
