Up early and checking the BBC gossip to see the back of The S*n 'Pitch invasion mars Villa joy' or some such nonsense.  Toilet paper for rats.

For all your VAR, Klopp nonsense and Karen Carney overexposure, football still retains the capacity to thrill and delight. It was a great cup tie over the two legs, Leicester know that as well and will admit it in the cold light of day. Excellent stuff from everyone involved.

A couple of things from last night.
As I walked to the Bartons pre match a black cat crossed my path then as we all walked back we saw "Jesus Dave" ( or Jimmy Page as we used to call him) for the first time in years. Alone, in a big coat, striding purposefully to his destination.

Some things never change and some things  are just meant to be.

I can get used to these last minute winners (not all the time though mind). My mate said around five to go that he'd settled for penalties but I said no. You have to keep going and we proved that with the Watford winner.

Everyone had a good game last night but Nyland, Marvellous, Luiz and Grealish (just for that assist alone for the first goal) stood out.

What a night, when Trez stuck his chance away VP erupted. We don't get many days at Villa like that but that was special. I thought that after an hour we were starting to look a bit jaded, Deano made the right subs who combined for the winner.
Nyland, what a performance.

Fitting in the season that saw the death of Ron Saunders, two of his former sides look set to contest the trophy he took both teams to the final of ... only won it with one though ... UTFV

Great performance, great result, well done Villa. All the players played their part including our debutant, but Nyland, Targett, Freddy and Nakamba again stood out for me. Luiz 1st half was very good, Jack and Mings were both immense. Maddison was their best player. I heard very little noise from the clapper boys. Rodgers must hate playing us in semi finals. The better team won on the night and over 2 legs, so onto wembley. Focus from the club has to be on incoming transfers for the rest of this week (particularly another striker) and 3 points on Saturday vs Bournemouth is a must. Keep up the great work Villa!!

I’d like to apologise to all the people in the Dubliner in Santa Maria, Sal, Cape Verde tonight, I lost it when Trez scored. Fortunately celebrating on my own meant a few funny looks but fair play to the Norwegian bloke who came over to me to say well done and was genuinely pleased for me and my team. What a night, it’s always hard not being there for the big nights but that was special even watching from so far away.

Likewise from the Natura Beach Sports Bar. Playa Blanca
Just like the Liverpool semi final victory when Jack was a mere babbie

Must be a lucky place for cup matches!

Freddie first and he laughed followed by what looked like one of the backroom staff and Jack looked mightily pissed off then, didn’t he ?

Whisper it quietly but on the replays it looks like we may have got away with one or VAR was on our side for once with the Marv handball shout. Good humour from the Holte following the incident too.

I think if Ref had given it, then VAR wouldn’t have overruled.
Wasn’t ‘clear and obvious’ to overrule.

And had the Ref given it he would have been a bit of a ******

Which he was for allowing 6 assaults on Grealish before any punishment.

This. Seems to be a more frequent occurrence lately, long may it continue.

My Senior Partner is a Leicester fan. He was asking me yesterday if I was looking forward to seeing us get thrashed. He has not surfaced yet today...
