Best/worst moment of the 2010s?
« on: December 21, 2019, 11:32:36 PM »
Just to add to the positivity this evening!

Best- Has to be May. Taking out WBA over two legs and then finally playing well at Wembley in a major final. Perfect way to go up and nice to have a feel good summer for once.

Honourable mentions to Benteke and Grealish at their best and various points of the decade. Probably in the minority but I enjoyed periods of Sherwood's reign aswell, up to 6-1 at Southampton. Some good wins in the league and cup under him.

The Worst

You could probably read one of the Lord of the Rings novels quicker than thinking up all the bad moments.

In order:

Losing league cup final to Man. United

MON walking out.

Appointing McLeish

Appointing Lambert.

15-0 over xmas 2012.

Bradford..........(shudders).

FA cup final.

Delph.

2015-16.

Getting turned over by likes of Barnsley and Brentford in our first season in the championship.

Losing the play off final. Not just the day but the turmoil for the next few weeks.

When it's listed there it really has been a very forgettable decade that's set the club back a long time in terms of ranking of clubs in England.

In the 50s we had the FA cup win, 70s had a similar resurgence and league cup win, little needs to be said for 80s and 90s, ups and downs but ultimately success in league and cup. 00s was when we slipped from being one of the top clubs in the land but still had a fair few top 6 finishes and cup runs.

Only 60s been worse than this decade post war.

The FAC semi final win against Liverpool was my favourite.

The worst - Bradford.

FA Cup semi, in the fancy seats surrounded by Liverpool fans, going insane when we scored. A complete performance.

0-1 Gabby at St Andrews, probably the best goal celebrations ive ever been involved in, ended up miles from my seat.

Random one but Reading away around 2013ish? Won 1-2, my last proper away game that I went too.

Villa 2-2 man utd under Houllier. As close as we'd gotten to beating them at VP for years, the Holte was sucking the ball into the net in that 2nd half, we tore them apart for 70 minutes before the obligatory collapse in the last 20.

Reading 2-4 Villa, FA Cup. 2-0 down at half time, 3 goals in around 10 second half minutes to turn it around, once again wild celebrations.

Bad memories? Too fucking many.

6-1 and 4-1 vs Sunderland
FAC games vs Albion and Liverpool
Benteke goals pretty much all of them
Wolves 4-1

Too many worst moments - mainly Chelsea away on that day

The Gabby sty winner was in the 00s so a few months out mate.

The liverpool semi final was certainly a fantastic day but ultimately it felt hollow given the total s*** on a stick performance we served up in the cup final.

The only real positives I can think of is the Championship Play Off win and the euphoria brought around by that and the fact that we seem to have good owners and a CEO who seems to know what he's doing.

So many negatives with Lamberk, Randy, Xia, Sherwank, Black, Garde, relegation, 0-6 v Liverpool.  This has not been a great decade and it looks like we will be in the bottom three as it ends.

I think it’s actually been a very memorable decade but mainly for the wrong reasons.

Best: Our run in to last season starting with the 4-0 win over Derby (and Jacks goal) including 10 straight wins and promotion at Wembley. The real feel good factor was there with the team and the fans which I don’t think has been there in years, and I mean years!!

Worst: So many to choose from, but the depressing Lambert years - it just merges through to Remi Garde in 2015/16, relegation was almost a merciful release.

Best? The period where we won promotion back to the Premier League.

Worst? Most of the rest.

Best.  Play off final

Worst.  Appointing Mcleish and realising Lerner actually didn't give a toss

Best is a toss up between Albion and Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Worst was the final.

Not so sure about appointing Lambert.  Generally him coming was well received at the time   It's only when we had horror Christmas that spooked him to the point that he was like a rabbit in headlights afterwards

Shit decade with few highlights, we have been very much diminished by it. We're back in the prem now I guess, but it feels very much like more of the same shit we've had to put up with since 2011 or so.

It is completely wank, and our failure, that Birmingham doesn't have a powerhouse club anymore. The Blues are never going to do anything worthwhile, but we haven't won a trophy for 23 years. At that age, I had seen us runners up to the championship twice, two league cup wins, knocking Inter out of the UEFA cup, taking on Atletico Madrid etc.

The kids now have fuck all to remember, just a load of shit and diminished horizons. Credit to them for still turning up.
