I don't want to see Trez bottling out of challenges again. He concerns me

Agreed. Free hit this, if there’s any doubt give him a game off.

If it's really a free hit, then why not rest a bunch of them? I don't buy that logic at all. It's a league game at home, not a free hit.

Without Jack that’s the team I’d have picked . Expect 4-5-1 mostly

If he’s still feeling it, it’s pointless risking him against best side in country when we have a massive December
Exactly what i felt when i saw the line up.

Imagine the absolute pelters DS would get if we played Jack when he's not fit enough, he aggravates the injury and is out for months. He's not playing because he isn't fit enough to play.

Obviously that’s not worth doing - our chances may be slim but we can get something from this game. With Jack, it’s certainly not a game (or stage of the season) where the desperation for three points comes near to out weighting the possible negative implications of playing someone that isn’t fully fit.

Well within sensible parameters obviously. If jack is 50/50 then it would be insane to risk him against a team where 3 points would be a massive bonus, with the Xmas schedule bearing down.

Edit - quote fail. I agree with you pws

Right. Which is different to resting somebody because the game is a 'free hit'. He also didn't need to say earlier in the week that Jack seemed fine to play.

I don’t think anyone’s saying give jack a rest for the hell of it. He’s clearly recovering from a knock, clearly 50/50, so it’s about how you best deploy that resource.

Fair enough. Worried we'll be absolutely flat without our creative outlet today. Like others, worried about the likes of Trez and Anwar without Jack to pull the strings.

You're right, he should have told Liverpool in advance that Jack wasn't playing.

Or maybe the way he was progressing during the week they felt there was a decent chance he'd make the game but that hasn't happened. Hardly the first time a player should/could recover to play the next game and on the day wasn't fit enough.

Take it less seriously. It'll help you.

I agree mate it’s disappointing and drastically reduces our chances of getting anything out of this. But I don’t reckon smith would have taken it lightly so presumably there’s been a development since his previous quotes.
