Well done Villa. A tentative start, but they started to improve just before the goal, and now they're playing with real confidence. Another goal early in the second half would be nice.

Need to focus hard in the second half. Everton are still getting to the ball quicker.

Some lovely moves from us, though. We’re definitely not a park the bus side.

I think Engels and Mings are already my favourite central defensive pairing since Teale and God.

Slightly iffy start but after that we've made Everton look mediocre.  Jota's been lively, Jack's coming into it more and more, Guilbert gets forward a lot.  Good stuff.

I enjoyed that, some real quality performances all round that half. The later stages we really started to see a Dean Smith team.

Interesting stat from the BBC website: Excluding own-goals, none of Aston Villa's first 1,079 goals in the Premier League were scored by Brazilians.
Their last two have been scored by Brazilian players (Douglas Luiz & Wesley).

I was thinking the same. Or possibly Mellberg and Laursen

First 20mins were genuinely awful. After the goal we have been transformed and looking likely to get a second. Thought Trez was anonymous but last 5mins he started to find some space in behind. My main moan is Mings, his distribution has been James Collins esque.

Everton bound to make changes at the break, their midfield two have been hopeless. I'd expect Iwobi will come on at the break and they will go two up top.

Looked a lot better after the goal, we look dangerous on the break. The commentator was saying as the half time whistle went " he's been criticised for his performances in the first two games has scored" utter bollocks. Haven't heard any criticism at all of Wesley from either fans or so called pundits.

Jota and Engels different class.
Luiz been quiet, quickly closed down. this has resulted in Mings playing some pointless long balls.
Wesley will be great if we play football. good hold up play as well.

Guilbert a different at the right back. Jota does sometimes strange things though. Mings & Engels are the new Mellberg & Laursen.
Whats the attendence?

Smith was responding to criticism of Wes during the week anyway. Goals bring confidence , he has been beating up Mina since
