None of them would make our starting 11

Mad how much I am looking forward to this game.  Me and my mate were offered seats in a box, which we took and will be fantastic by all accounts, but regret it a little that we won’t be in with the pack as it’s bound to be an awesome atmosphere.

Since the fixtures came out I’ve always had a sneeky suspicion we could nick it, simply as our tails will be up and you never know how complacent the opposition can be with a newly promoted side.  But although Spurs did lose last season to a few unexpected teams, that was away from home.

Spurs don’t draw an awful lot of games, so I think it could be a very good match with lots of attacking intent.

Haha.  I keep thinking we may be 2-1 up in the final few minutes and under the cosh, then hit them on the break, a la Luna at Arsenal, to win 3-1.  ;D

People often say I'm mad.  :-\

One thing I just noticed.  Stuart Attwell is on VAR duty.  What could possibly go wrong?!

I am feeling uncannily optimistic about this one, and in fact about the season ahead for once! I think the bookies may have grossly underestimated us and think we will get a 2-1 result. I would so love Jack to score a spectacular one against them too for obvious reasons! I can dream....

I have a nagging concern that we may be slightly undercooked compared to Spurs. Their pre season fixtures included Juventus, Man Utd, Bayern Munich and Inter. Our only real test was against Leipzig. Hopefully it won’t play a part but you never know.

I’d be delighted with a draw, then hopefully 3 points against Bournemouth.

Spurs will be knackered after that lot and travelling half way round the world to play in all these fixtures just to meet the demands of their commercial sponsors. It’s folly in my view and I prefer our approach.

I of course reserve the right to completely change my mind on saturday night and lambast the club for its naive approach.

Given how the season finished last year (12 wins in 15 games) I like the idea of a pre-season that slowly ramps up in quality and lets us keep a winning mentality going. We're now on a run of 17 wins in 20 games including 6 in the last 6. I know pre-season results don't mean anything but confidence and momentum matter and we've beaten pretty much everything put in front of us for 6 months. For this summer I prefer that to travelling all over the world to play in pointless tournaments against champions league sides who would see us as we see some of the teams we've just played. I don't think we'll be coming in cold.

They were only playing in Germany last week. Inter Milan game was actually at WHL wasn't it?

Would snatch your hands off for a draw tbh. I'd be o.k with a narrow defeat just to show we can compete at this level again. Don't want a reality check defeat though.

I’ll be not happy, but maybe you could say content, with worse case 1-goal defeat. I’d dearly love to FTF though! I’ve got a Spurs supporting mate and the last few seasons have been pretty bad with the snidey remarks and all the rest of it. It would be great to have something genuine to rub his nose into, rather than just being able to chuckle at their almost-ran last couple of seasons. I’ve always seen us as similar sized clubs, but with our history overshadowing theirs. I’d love a good solid performance with a Jammy last minute winner!!  Come on you Lion!!
This

Me too - The fans i dislike most, smug under acheivers who act like they only have to turn up to win. I dont care if its a 1 goal win by some flukey deflection ill take it.

Major FTF!!

A routine 3-1 away win. SJM, Jota and Mings. Trippier for them.

Come off it, that's mental, no chance whatsoever.

Trippier plays for Atlético Madrid.  3-0 then! :)

Really? Wow, I have my finger on the pulse, don't I?!

Eriksen being linked to Man. United this morning so that's another to potentially scrub off their predicted 11 list.

Most football fans are blindly optimistic at this stage of the season but we really do have positive cause to be so. There hasn't been such a feel good factor around VP for nearly a decade. Yes, most of us possibly had never heard of Guillbert, Engels, Konsa, Trezeguet and Wesley up until recently but we have assembled a squad of the coach's own choosing who will be technically proficient to be able to play Deano's way. The club will have tremendous backing from the supporters this season - 30,000 season ticket holders is unheard of in my lifetime supporting the Villa. I'm backing us to go to London and put in a performance that we'll be proud of.
