Heaton

Guilbert - Engels - Mings - Targett

Douglas

McGinn - Grealish

Trezeguet - Jota - El Ghazi

Icardi

Don't think they'll let us start twelve players mate!

Trez out, Jota and El Ghazi either side of Jack and John.

Name your starting XI for Opening Day

It seems like I need to do this every year, as I don't have quite the feel for all the transfers that come in, but this year I'm really going to need help.  We could pretty much roll out a starting roster of all new players.

For laughs, here's my completely uneducated guess if we keep the 3-3-4'ish look from last season:

Heaton
Elmo - Konza - Mings - Targett
SJM - Ruis - Grealish
Trezeguet - Wesley - El Ghazi

Which would still leave Nakamba, Engels, and Jota on the bench.  And if we bring in Maupay or another top striker ... no idea then.

Is this the same as ‘Pick team v Spurs’ or something different? :-)

I remember Lyden because his first name is Jordan and we had a few Jordans around the place at that time.

Fuck my old boots, we must all have been bad in a previous life to deserve a team like that.  No bloody wonder we went down as meekly as we did.

I think Dean will treat this season as a 'marathon and not a sprint'. Some of our new players will need time to settle, learn their role and prove they warrant a place in the starting eleven. Pity Spurs away first gives us less scope for experimentation. For the first match, Baldy jury says:

Heaton

Elmo
Mings
Hause
Targett

Hourihane

Jota
McGinn
Grealish
El Ghazi

Wesley

Subs: Steer, Guilbert, Engels, Lansbury, Marvelous, Trezeguet, Kodjia.

Our best starting eleven will change a lot over the coming weeks. But for first match, a bit of continuity might do no harm!!

Hourihane will get marmelized in that position. Fred to start at RB and Engles in the middle with Mings. Don't know about DM - why not bung Marv in?

McGinn Grealish
Trezeguet Wesley El Ghazi

Subs: Steer Elmo Hause Konsa Jota Kodjia

Haven't seen that Luiz has got his work permit yet, but still no place on the bench for Chester or Lansbury.
