You touched on the one thing which was my one gripe from yesterday, us trying to walk the ball into the net for the 3rd instead of having a pop at goal. I think we did it twice.

There's a decent novella to be written starting with the final whistle of last year's Playoff Final. The lows and highs (and the moments of pure football barminess in between e.g. the Forest 5-5, the Sheffield comeback) and the sheer number of personalities involved for good or ill  would make a slightly unbelievable story even for the Championship.

I would admit to a pang of regret as we wave ta-ra (but not though the a-bit) to the Championship.  If I'll miss anything, it's decent, traditional, historic clubs, without the tourists and a sense that every match could go either way. It's what the Premier League could have been if the money hadn't got crazy and then concentrated in a few hands.

But we're Aston Villa and we have to be part of the top division.  Our absences are historical aberrations and we're back where we should be.

You couldn't make this season up... definitely worth a longer article/book...

For me Rotherham (lol Rotherham) 1-0 down, ten men, half time... no Villa team I've ever seen would have done what they did in the first 15mins of the second half. That's when I began to believe.
