One of my Norwich supporting work colleagues was in the away end and seemed to have enjoyed himself. Sent me a message that ended "loved Villa Park, proper ground with real character and great atmosphere"

As for the result, not bothered really as the important thing was resting several players ready for the play offs.

Nothing game really.

Started slowly and could have been two down inside 10 minutes, but after that and in the 2nd half in particular I thought we dominated them.

A full strength Villa would have murdered them, but it was wise to rest players as Leeds and the Albion have.

Lansbury a weak link, but Thor was even worse. You can't let players run at you like that.

Oh well. Not overly concerned. The focus is clearly on the Play Offs.

Far from a Lansbury fan but thought he played well. So did most fans judging by the standing ovation he got when he went off.

We were much worse with Bjarny on the pitch.

The main thing was avoiding injury and suspension so don't really care about today's result. And Baggies no longer have the minor psychological boost of being the last team to beat us. If we are clutching at straws.

I too thought Lansbury played well.  Bjarnasson seems to be the only player DS is failing to get a big improvement out of.  And Green to a lesser extent who is fast becoming the latest in a long recent line of Villa players who play too slowly.  In his case I think it is mental not physical.  He receives the ball in a potentially threatening position but the message to his legs to go full gas gets bumped down his "what to do next" list.  Good wide men do the working out on the run.  Is Andre Green a work in progress?  Maybe.

First ten minutes I thought we were in for a torrid afternoon but we recovered well. For a team missing its best players we performed better than expected and Davis for the time he was on the pitch seems to have got his game back again, as for Green he lacks the pace for a top winger he has many attributes but a couple of times he was beaten by a speedier full back. Not sure my nervous system will stand watching the playoffs.

And a proud record has now gone. No team had ‘doubled’ us since we went down but Norwich now have.

Spot on this, I want my wingers to hug touchline and take on a man and Green does neither, he constantly checks inside and slows down play. Only time in game he actually did what he is supposed to do we nearly scored in second half. He beat the full back, got to byline and cut it back.

Our wingers are told to cut in to drag a man inside to allow the full back to overlap.

El Ghazi does it regularly too.

For a nothing game it was surprisingly entertaining. End to end and I think a fair scoreline. Hernandez is impressive. We lacked a bit of creativity, but that was understandable with Grealish and McGinn out.

Obviously disappointed that we lost, if we were to lose a game in our recent run I'm glad it was this one in a nothing game for us. When Barny came on the pitch I saw an almost immediate dip in our performance. He's not settled at Villa at all. Lansbury did ok but clearly lacks match fitness. He may do a job coming on as an impact sub in playoff games. Another Conor assist and Kodjia goal indicated to me that these 2 may well have a big part to play in the playoffs, whilst accepting that there are plenty of big occasion players to return to the starting 11.
Norwich supporters were fine yesterday. I spoke to a couple before the game and they seemed grounded, enjoying the moment but realistic about their chances next season. They stated that they may only spend £20m max in their prem league return. On basis of yesterday I can see them struggling. Playoffs next, come on Villa!! UTV

How many of our goals have come from grealish, McGinn, Abraham, AEG this season? I could look it up but basically with Kodjia misfiring hoirihane was our only serious goal threat yesterday.

Kodjia mis-firing is a bit harsh. He did score our goal.

Something is not right with Bjarneson. I think he's off. When the pkayers were taking the applause at the end of the game he was first to dive down the tunnel. Maybe he's feeling a bit surplus to requirements.

He's always struck me as a bit of a surly, miserable so-and-so. Looks to me that he thinks he's better than he actually is.

It is possible that Birkir is finding it hard to adjust to being a national hero in Iceland and a bench player in the English second tier.  In Rekyavik the Iceland team photo is in every shop window with BB up front and centre of the picture.  He tries hard and is a natural fit in a team of triers.  In more complex, choreographed play he struggles.  The world loves a trier.  I wish him well.

Andre Green was the only player who really disappointed me today. Showed some clever footwork but usually ended up losing the ball rather than using it. didn't link with/use Taylor in the way El Ghazi has done in recent weeks. Not sure he's got what it takes unfortunately.
