Bolton game in jeopardy?
« on: April 16, 2019, 11:20:21 PM »
Seems to be twitter stories all day that there will be a decision tomorrow morning on whether the Bolton game is on. This latest one says that have until 11am to find the money due to emergency services or their safety licence is revoked.

Would we be given the 3 points in such a case?

That seems to be the jist SE. It’s a crap situation for all concerned though, especially their fans.

Will it or could they just play it without a crowd? Behind closed doors type of thing.

Surely you would still need some staff, security, that sort of thing? Otherwise fans could just walk in.

I think I saw somewhere that that's against EFL rules, unless it's dished out by them as a punishment.

The EFL rules don’t mention anything about the points be awarded to the opposition but do mention these type of circumstances.

Penalty for Non-Fulfilment of Fixture Obligations

31.1

Any Club failing to fulfil its fixture obligations in respect of any match under the jurisdiction of The League on the appointed date or dates or causing The League to suspend any fixture shall be deemed guilty of misconduct, unless the circumstances giving rise to such failure are outside the control of the Club and could not have been reasonably foreseen or reasonably anticipated and remedied prior to the match. Every Club shall carry out regular and appropriate maintenance and checks to ensure that its safety certificate is not suspended or withdrawn.

31.2

The Club failing to fulfil its fixture or causing The League to suspend such fixture shall be liable to pay compensation for any expenses actually incurred by the opposing Club as a direct result of the failure or suspension. The amount of compensation will be at the discretion of the Board who will consider every such case on its merits. The Board may refer the amount of compensation to be paid to the Disciplinary Commission dealing with the misconduct by the Club failing to fulfil its fixture or causing The League to suspend the same.

I hope if they can’t play we get the 3 points. And nit a rearranged fixture if they can suddenly find the money after Friday ?

A rearranged fixture the midweek before the end of the season to make sure we are knackered for the playoffs, if we make it, would be about our luck.

They have 2 home games left, I think the league will do everything they can to get them to the end of the season.

If they are short of money they could move their fans into one stand and give Villa the other 3 stands to fill. massive  payday for Bolton and we get to take 15k away fans. Sorted

There would be more info about such a thing before now. Some bitter nose trying to unsettle us is my guess.

It's been reported by a Bolton based journalist on Twitter. I reckon it will go ahead anyway.

Can't the rest of the "football family" have a whip-round and help the poor feckers last at least until May? Man City Inc. could buy them with loose change and use them as a local reserve club.
