Rotherham United v Aston Villa - pre match thread
« on: April 08, 2019, 07:46:38 PM »
Is it ok that I start a pre match thread?

No need to state that this game is massive, even though it’s massive.

Some changes are needed just to freshen things up.
Axel in for Hause I suspect.
Hourihane in for Whelan
Albert in for Green.

I’m going for a 2-0 away win.

I have gone for a draw for us for the last few games, so I've gone for a draw this time as well!

Axel in for Hause assuming the latter is still injured, and Albert in for Green, absolutely.  I think he'll start with Whelan though.  A midfield three of Jack, SJM and Hourihane is a bit lightweight possibly.  McGinn has to watch himself as if he picks up three more yellow cards he'll be banned for three matches.  If we can get back to getting comfortable leads, I'd be subbing SJM off for Conor personally.

Rotherham are fighting for their Championship lives. They got a result against Forest so no room for complacency. We need to go back up there focused on doing a professional job and come home with 3pts in the bag.

Whelan needs a rest so I'd start with Hourihane, and bring off McGinn for Whelan if the game is comfortable.

0-3 Villa

9 points from the last 6 games says Rotherham are making a real fight of it.
However, we are doing rather well ourselves of late.

Let us not get ahead of ourselves and start getting all Wolves eh? A professional performance is required.  DFU.

Is this game available on the Sky red button?

Anything less than 10 against these northern no hopers and i'll be very unhappy. They should treat us with the reverence we deserve and enjoy being beaten by us as it's an honour for them just to be on the same pitch as us.

Whelan has played too many games for a 35 year old lately, for club and country. Definitely needs a breather, Hourihane didn't do much wrong to be dropped either.

One of Bruce's biggest faults was not freshening the team up when we were on a good run. Sincerely hope Smith doesn't make the same mistake.

Hause, Whelan, El Ghazi and Green out Tuanzebe, Hourihane, Adamoah and Kodjia in.

Who are the three miserable bastards predicting a Rotherham win? Stuart can't be dead after we beat his I love Bruce XI at the weekend so he must have popped on and voted. Who's the other two?

I'd agree with that but I think Smith will stick with Green and El Ghazi.
