Villa song
« on: March 31, 2019, 07:56:11 AM »
The very melodic one with something about 1982 and "Villa were your masters?"

I'm a little deaf so  ant make out all the words.

Is there any history to this song as it seems to have come out of no where?
Could someone advise of the lyrics please.

When in full voice it sounds superb

It’s a local version of a song Liverpool have been singing for a few seasons in European games. Allez, Allez.

Everywhere we follow
The boys in claret and blue
We even conquered Europe
In 1982
The Villa boys from Aston
We travel near and far
You can hear us singing
From the stands of Villa Park

Allez Allez Allez

It's just a rip off of a song Liverpool fans sing with annoying frequency. I dislike it and it makes me angry.

There again, I'm a miserable bastard and most things make me angry. Cycling, coffee shops, garden gnomes.. The list goes on.

Like most football songs these days most clubs fans pick up on it and have their own version. Who cares, I love it.

I've also heard 2 versions of SJMs song but not sure which is right...

We've got McGinn
Super John McGinn
I don't think you really understand
He's Dean Smiths man / He's a Villa man
He's better than Zidane
We've got Super John McGinn

During Dean Smith's first home game this song was sung, but there was some confusion when it got to the line 'He's .... .....'s man' as people suddenly realised they couldn't sing Steve Bruce's name any more and were momentarily confused about whose name to sing!

Thank you for asking Hookey, having had life on hold with moving house and a little one well on the way it’s been a while, I also was trying to make it out from unusally being in the Witton Lane. A bit of variety is good. Trying to think if there was anything else. What was the Ming’s song?
