I thought he got nearly every decision wrong, countless ones against us and should have given a penalty against Hause and then sent him off for pulling that shit ****** back when he’d lost control on the half way line.

first time post on an actual game on this forum so be easy with me -lol

watched it on sky and has a neutral the first word i would describe it as was frantic , a typical derby game . obviously the numpty that went onto the pitch takes centre stage and hope he gets put down for a long time but I think you just edged it although they had a good shout for a penalty

was fearing the worse when i saw Taylor in the starting line up as the hordes on here gave me the general impression that he's been pants for you lot this year so was refreshing to see him play well going forward and looked solid defending .

Hopefully will be named in the Wale squad for our game against Slovakia in 2 weeks time

i guess most are on the razz celebrating tonight !

Is it just me or did anyone else read that in a Rhod Gilbert accent? :)

Our players showed tremendous character, discipline, organisation and team spirit, and a few moments of sublime skill.

There seems to have been little mention of the gusting westerly wind and the state of the pitch which made passing along the ground something of a lottery; I reckon El Ghazi would have scored from Jack's exquisite through pass if the ball hadn't bobbled.

Still buzzing at the result but all my thoughts on the technicalities of the game have been made already.
I would add that Jack’s attacker was celebrated throughout the game by a good section of the crowd singing “one punch and he knocked him out”
A trivial point but it sums up the quality of the club we visited  today.
Water was £2, cheaper than anywhere else. It arrived at the counter in a paper cup which I took to my seat. Upon tasting it – it was tap water! Cheapskate club.

The best tap water in the country though.

Our run there is remarkable in that the last person to score there for us that didn't come through our academy is Kevin Philips some 14 years ago.

Not sure that’s right, James Collins scored there under O’Neill

Houllier or TSM1 wasn’t it? MON always won there, Collins scored in a draw I think.

Last time I went to the Sty was at the invitation of SHA.  I was doing consultancy for the Birmingham Cooperative Society who were their sponsor.  I sat in the Directors's Box.  I cheered a bit of Villa excellence upon which a Nose two rows in front lunged back over the seats and punched me in the face.  I left and will never enter that pit of evil ever again.

It's great with a bit of Celine Dion, too!

That's the way, Jacky lad!

This was obviously a long time ago mate, they're not that type of club now......

It was a scrappy affair and a typical derby really. Some of the passing from us was pretty dismal. I text some mates at half time and said we needed McGinn on to take the game by the scruff of the neck and that's just what he did. Great win, not the best performance but obviously delighted that it was Jack who got the winner.

They're never fluid performances or games easy on the eye there. Typical derby fare.

How many years since a win by more than 1 goal for us?

It hurts them that they're always close games there that we more than often come out winning. So close but so far for them.
