Without knowing the ins and outs of the game, was the difference just Jack ? Or was it more than that ?

We played well when he went off, but for sure he gives all the other players space, set up for 1st goal really set the tone and gave every confidence and a lift

Thought we wouldn't miss him as much as we would, but he really is a one off. God knows what will we do post summer.

Excellent performance and result! Jack comes back and we’re back to looking like a team again...who’d have thought it?!

Is “where is stuart445?” the new “why didn’t Barry take that penaulty?”.

Does anyone know if stuart445 is OK?
He is livid about the second half. Typical Smith’s team bottling it “late” in the game no stamina no resilience.

Magnificent.

Take a bow villa lads as we applaud you thunderously.

Weekends are fun again. Watching goals over and over.

We’ve clicked again. Bring on the rags.

If I have a grandson, his name will be Jack.

My grandson is called Jack. I had no influence on that though. Although his father is a big Villa fan.

He picks up the ball, goes forward and is positive. He also rarely loses it. Simple as that really.

I know, it's down to him I guess, I'd love him to give us another year, but we can't hold him back too, he deserves better than this crappy league.

Didn't see the game but just caught up with the highlights.  Looks like we played some great stuff: team goals and an individual bit of magic.  We've built on last week's draw with a win so hopefully we can put a run together and see what happens - we've got nothing to lose.

Incidentally, I was having a read of a Derby forum and it seems like it was a good time to play them: they've not scored for a while and Lampard made six changes from their last game.  Nevertheless they were still well above us in the table and we gave them a right shoeing.

It’s not just what he does with the ball. It’s what it allows others to do even if he’s just got the ball at his feet. The running off the ball was the best it’s been in weeks or really since he last played. Whelan also played his best game of the season and the back 5 (inc Steer) were generally untroubled by a very poor Derby side.

Jack's back!!!, what a strike that was, well done to all the lads, all the goals, what have we been doing for the last couple of months, if we can put together a good run we can make this a summer to remember, play offs and who knows, stuff of dreams.

He constantly finds space and he does it quickly,  if he goes backward to find space the ball when he gets it goes forwards and then he finds space again.
He makes the game easier for other players.
Add his individual ability and yes he makes a shit load of difference.

As I keep saying - back the manager and he’ll get this right. Do get the feeling that this forum is always one defeat from total meltdown and one victory away from getting carried away. We were 48 hours from liquidation in the summer, let’s be thankful we aren’t now called FC Villa of Aston operating in the evo stick league, and lets give this manager every single inch of our backing
