I really can't see Smith getting through the whole of March still in a job.  He's lost it utterly.

I'm beginning to think the same. I know they will give him as much time as possible and they absolutely will not want to fire him but even with the injuries nobody would have seen it become this bad. He's starting to look like Garde did; lost without any way of fixing it.

Villa has made me hate football so much. It's like you set off for a trip to a town called Misery every week. 1-0 down, we've barely got going on the back of a massively shit run against a shit team.

The only small upside is that I'm sat out in the garden, in the warm early spring sunshine with a glass of wine.  Birds are singing, kids are playing with the puppy on the lawn, and Villa are as utterly fucking inept as ever! Shit, fuck, wank, bollocks!

He's got to start showing he's worth backing long term.

I cannot help but think there was some reason why Smiths first word in the presser yesterday was ‘togetherness’ in answer to the question what do we need to start winning and go on a run
He could have said a bit of luck luck or hard work, or a return of injured players but no, he chose togetherness.

That suggests to me that there is a lack of togetherness and he felt the need to say it

I couldn't even utter a loud profanity as I've taken my youngest daughter to Adventureland for the afternoon with her best friend.

True Andy, very telling that.  Usually a sign of a manager feeling the pressure.  I don't think he's going to come out of the other side unfortunately.

He's got to start showing he's worth backing long term.

Well that's just it. He was appointed with a long term plan in mind. To create what he had at Brentford on a grander scale. What the board must be thinking is that they will give this as long as possible and then make a decision whether to back him in the summer or cut ties at the end of the season and see who else might be out there. Someone like a Silva who may not last at Everton for example, even Jokanovic who might be worth a look. But this is fucking bad.
