A relative newcomer to management has made a team better consistently.

That relative newcomer has been managing since 2008.

And was lined up to be our manager seven years ago.

This thread is fucking embarrassing.

It certainly is. I’m sure Fat Sam and Pullis would get these lads playing though. That’s the answer.

It’s this shit that stops me posting on this site. Ludicrous thread and a brain dead attitude. There’s a reason why we’re languishing in the championship whilst also being a bit of a laughing stock regarding the fickle nature of our fans.  Yeah let’s sack him, get Wagner in and start a whole new thread in September..... totally mental.

If only we had sacked Ron Saunders when we were mid-table in Division Two, half way through his first season at Villa Park, who knows what we might have gone on to achieve.

Dont go there this guy is no Ron Saunders.

That may well be the case.  The point is though, Smith doesn't deserve the sort of criticism he's getting on here, just a few months into his appointment; and to call for him to be sacked is simply ridiculous.

Can understand the frustration but I honestly think the board have given him assurances rightly or wrongly that promotion this season isn't a must (which explains a indifferent transfer window) and seemingly lack of urgency to try to rescue this season.

Seems like we're all saying it for the 100th time but massive transfer window ahead this summmer, we will see a massive overhaul of the squad particularly in the central midfield area which has been a problem for us for ages.

No guarentee of course we'll get better than we have now of course especially with no Abraham and possibly no Grealish.

When we appointed Steve Bruce I basically judged him from the first game of 17-18 so important to be consistant.

Smith out? Really ?!! Wow.... Bigger picture and all that...we haven't got the players to play the way he wants to....especially midfield and full backs.
They'll be a huge clear out in the summer....and Jack will more than likely be off. Judge the guy this time next year...no-ones coming in and doing a quick fix with the midfield and full backs we have.

Wilder looks like a proper manager. Smith looks lost snd out of his depth.

It’s the gutless few villa players that need sacking. Hourihane, Taylor and Jedinak.

He's been managing them for nearly 3 years !! Slight difference...

Might as well get this started.

I wanted Smith in but we look clueless. If this doesn't get better he will have to go before next season.

Fans can only comment on what they see. At times it’s been poor & that frustrates. Last Saturday at Reading I was really pissed off & tonight, for large parts of the game. I believe you can question him, that’s the point of a forum, but calling for him to be sacked, I struggle to understand.
