I reckon if he’d made a mistake in this match, or even if he didn’t personally but Scotland had scored, McGuire would’ve come back in for the Czech match. As it stands now, Mings can’t be dropped on the back of 2 clean sheets and as such, I can’t see McGuire starting any of the knockout matches now, should England progress.

There were a couple of moment where Jack held the ball and drew the defenders to him. For one he passed to where McGinn would usually be making a run towards the D - no one there. Second he passed up towards the corner to where Targett would be overlapping. You could say he should have looked but I'd argue it's because none of the rest have the football intelligence or will to make the run. I reckon Chilwell is the ideal fullback in that squad to play alongside the floppy-haired prince cos he plays on the overlap for Chelsea.

Tyrone conducts things beautifully from the back, for Villa and now England. Well deserved plaudits.

Mings was arguably England's best player, though James and Shaw did well too and Pickford made the vital save when called upon.

His passing was quicker, and better than his colleagues, and yet his detractors seem to think that's where he is weak.

Am I the only one who’s always thinking ‘What’s he pointing at?’

This would be the logical and correct decision, if it wasn’t for horseface and his collection of favourite pets.

No, you're not! I often wonder if his pointing distracts the opposition.

I am confident that our boy will be dropped for the Czech game so that Southgate gets his desired partnership of Stones and Maguire for the last two games of the tournament.

He’s been excellent in the the last two games, really leads the defence well and he’s been very sharp.

I'm inclined to agree with you.  The excuse Southgate could use being that Maguire is more of an aerial threat from set pieces than Tyrone.  How many goals has he scored for England?

I think Southgate will almost certainly get the hump with Mings for his brutally honest post match comments.

Not that honest. No reference to Southgate being a charlatan, clueless and a dour, negative twat.

Mings has played well enough so far, that when Maguire inevitably returns to the side, and we inevitably concede the goal(s) that knock us out, there will be questions asked about why he didn't retain his place in the side.  I think that's probably the best he can hope for right now, to be in the conversation about England's best defence moving forward.
