Crap team.  Dean you test my patience to the limit.
Who is not included that should be ?

Precisely. It’s all well and good criticizing team selection but who else would you put in right now - is Messi in the bench?!?!

Start them. Be proactive.  One thing I never expected from Dean Smith was caution.

Google Sports has the formation as 4-1-4-1 against their 4-3-3.

I'm fine with Whelan if it gives license for the full backs to push further forward.  Our wide players can be much more effective when a player is offering the overlap.

....even if the overlapping player is Neil bloody Taylor again

Not ideal no. But it means someone has to track him as well, dragging one of their players out of position, then yes it's effective.

So long as he’s just a decoy and we don’t actually give him the ball !

Which happened in the 1st minute and his cross was awful 🤣

Crap lineup. Uninspiring. Won't be watching. Good luck Villa

O'Hare for No legs Whelan, Kodjia and Davis for Adomah and El Ghasi and Charlie from the chip shop for Neil Taylor.

What’s that definition of madness again?
Trying the same thing and expecting different results ?

The very same.
