Brilliant from Moeen.  I hope for more in the Finals day.

Back in April, I was at day 1 of Glos v Derby in Div 2 of the Championship. There’s a few more people in Brizzle tonight than there was on that morning.

So Ambrose, Hose and Yates are all out injured for today against title chasing Essex. Just to add to the injury list of Bell, Stone, Norwell, Sidebottom and Woakes in the England squad. Have I missed anyone?
Today's lineup will be very youth orientated!

Big game for the Bears and our opponents Essex starting today. It's an "away" match but we are at home as it got rescheduled after the World Cup. They are battling with Somerset for the title, and the two meet last game. Surprised to see Somerset have never won it, you'd think Richards/Botham et al would have won at least one title.

Anyway, hopefully we can do them a favour this week and ease any lingering relegation fears.

Bottom-placed Notts host Kent while title contenders Somerset host Yorkshire.

Nothing like giving a debut to young Ethan Brookes (18) and second game to Garrett, bowling to Sir A. Cook

Miles  and Panayi as well. That's 6 quicks.

Decent but unspectacular start for Bears, 234 or 3 but has taken 85 overs to get there.

It probably makes sense to be conservative given our large points advantage of Nottinghamshire, but I do hope we can get hold of a more explosive batsman or two for next season. We need to get setting big scores and accumulating lots of bonus points if we are going to be competitive at the right end of the table next year.

Lamb and Hain have both passed fifty.

Notts dismissed Kent for 304.

Meanwhile title contenders slumped to 199 all out, failing to even get one batting point. Yorkshire are 40 for 2 in reply, so a draw looks unlikely in that one.

Well done to the Bears! Good solid batting even if a little slow has given a good platform for tomorrow. 400+ is surely the target.

Yes

Another Knowle&Dorridge CC recruit. He's been batting around four this year in the BDPL and first change. A very decent prospect.

Bears should be targeting a 4th bonus point tomorrow morning, 81 from 14 so they'll need to score quickly but it's definitely possible with wickets in hand.

After that some bowling points and avoiding a defeat is fine. With the bowling attack we have and given their batting line-up I doubt we have the firepower to win this one.

I don't know - Brookes,  OHD and Jeets should give Essex problems. They reckon spin will be key on the wicket prepared, so Jeets should shine. I like the faith shown in the young players this season after numerous injury problems.
