Thomason never got the chance at red ball cricket. That knock for Sussex showed his undoubted potential. The batting is weak apart from Rhodes and Sibley - we have the lowest batting points in the League at only 8. I think Thomason will go on to be an excellent all rounder. Crazy decision!

Just remember that his innings was against a poor division 2 attack which is based just down the M5.....

Great win. It gives us a bit of breathing space.

Brookes may play for K&D this weekend, and Bell has been in the nets there this week.

Brookes didn't play, Belly caught behind first ball (!) and K&D got stuffed.
On the plus side, Bell fielded and seemed steady enough on his feet.

Is New Road going to be ready for the Pears Bears Twenty20 game?

Another good day for the Bears at the Oval, we really seem to have turned a corner in red ball cricket.

Yes, agree - playing well with so many injuries. Down to the bare bones in the bowling department! Having to loan players now.

Not going too well, today.

And our game against Essex, scheduled to be played at New Road, will now be played at Essex with the return game in September switched to Edgbaston. They should have just done that in the first place, but in this case it is because of the traditional Worcester floods.

It doesn't sound too likely that the Pears v Bears Twenty20 will go ahead on Friday 19th July as planned. I assume the tickets I've bought would still be honoured for Kidderminster if it ends up there? Or would it just be switched to Edgbaston? Hope not as I have booked the afternoon off in the hope of attending a new ground.

Frustrating that the Bears couldn't capitalise in their first innings when they were in a position to build a decent lead.  Looks like they are going to be chasing a pretty difficult total now.

We need 290 to win.

Underdogs, I reckon.

Need a good closing session here.  Very much in the balance at this point.

Rhodes gone for 43, Bears 70/1

Good opening partnership though, got through the new ball overs and took a big chunk out of the chase. If Sibley (who is probably the form opener in the league) can dig in at one end then I'd say we're slight favourites.

Yates went cheaply for 4 but Hain and Sibley have taken us over 100. A lot of overs left in the day still but if these 2 can get us there without any more wickets then it'll have definitely been our day. From a friend who is there the pitch has flattened out from the first day and looks decent to bat on (much to his annoyance as a Surrey fan).

Gutted that Hain couldn't see the day out, that's changed things a bit.

Miles went early as the nightwatchman so Hose is in with Sibley
179/4
Sibley 71*
Hose 12*

The good news is Curran is only allowed to bowl 3 more overs so that a big threat they'll be losing soon. Bears need to keep ticking over, get the chase under 100 without loss. Sibley is the key, if he sticks around and gets his century then this will be pretty much done.
