I've only watched a little bit from the website footage but, for me, it looked as if Miles is a bit raw. We also had another quick (Milnes was it) who bowled very few overs, was he carrying a knock?

Having Woakes and Stone both missing is a blow to the attack.
We released Tom Milnes back in 2015??? gone on to do quite well wherever he went, he has obviously impressed powers that be and is back here  on trial.
Miles will prove to be a good signing as will hopefully Norwell who is suffering along with Stone & CW on the treatment table.

I'm not defending Sibley but I imagine that slip fielding on a cold day is a thankless task. He should still have caught them though!

Yes i think a thankless task in these conditions.
All 3 of the slips have hands in pockets up to stage of bowler half way into run up.

I know a guy who worked with a kickstarter a few years back to develop hoodies with a small heating element in them (he's just a marketing guy who set stuff up). They contacted a few sports organisations about developing versions of the tech for the sports (for sports where there's a fair amount of standing around outside) and the ICC was one of them. ONE idea was to have cricket whites with heating elements on the knees/thighs (insulated from inside) so the close catchers could rest their hands on them and avoid cold fingers to improve catching in cold conditions, apparently they refused to even discuss it.

I know that's not relevant but I always think about it when I watch county cricket at this time of year and see fielders with their hands in their pockets.

Perhaps he should have contacted the ECB rather than the ICC, the problem is probably unique to this country.

I don't think he had much to do with it, he's an Australian guy who did some work for us during the ashes and he mentioned it as a bit of a cricket anecdote but I think his part was just a few weeks of setting up websites, etc.

Not a good start to the first innings! I'm surprised Lamb wasn't included? Or is he injured? So many players missing already!

I had a great morning at Glos v Derby but left at lunch as I’m just getting over a chest infection and it was a tad chilly in Bristol.

Hopefully I’ll get back over there again this season

Brilliant 8th wicket stand of 107 so far from Tim Ambrose (89 not out) and Henry Brookes, 55 not out!

Poor defeat in the end. We really miss Bell Stone and Woakes. Not at all convinced by some of the batters, Milnes, Sidebottom or Miles at this level. Worrying already.
