I still find it impossible to enjoy watching Federer. I can appreciate and admire the skill but he is like a machine, barely breaking sweat, showing little emotion yet easing to victory.
Although true to the seedings, this has been the poorest tournament for years. Predictable, straightforward and almost technically perfect in both codes. Great tennis, poor entertainment.

I've enjoyed watching Federer over the years far far more than Nadal and Djokovic.

His style has always been so graceful.

Those top three guys are so good that I can't help but think men's tennis is going to enter a kind of dark ages when they've all retired.

It's mental. What really struck me today is how diminished they all are compared to their primes, but they're *still* this much better than everyone else. It just goes to show how superior they were to everyone back when they were still at their best, and when there were still a few other players around who had the experience of closing out a slam. It's really crazy.

It is.  It also makes you realise what an achievement it was for Murray and Wawrinka to win three slams each in this era.

Yep, in any other era they're each looking at 5-10, maybe even 12.

Wow.  That was one of the best performances I've ever seen from a female player.  Halep was getting the ball back in play like Djokovic.

Serena Williams made a lot of unforced errors, but that was brilliant from Simona Halep. Great stuff

Indeed.  And even me, an old cynic, could not be anything but moved by the gloriously gracious, eloquent and humble way in which she handled the on-court interview in the immediate aftermath of her victory.

While waiting for New Zealand to bat, just checked Djokovic won 13-12 in 5th set tie break.

From the scores, it looked like an amazing final...shame it was overshadowed by the cricket.

No major shock for Dan the Villa man, beaten in 3 sets by Federer.

Wow 19 year old Bianca Andreescu wins the US Open, beating Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5. Williams now lost last 4 grand slam finals.

Serena loses another final having come back from 5-1 down in the second set to level it up.

She's now lost her last four grand slam finals and six out of her last eight, having only lost four of her first 25. Starting to wonder if she'll ever break the homophobe Margaret Court's record.

Nadal wins the US Open and his 19th Grand Slam, only 1 behind Federer now. It's good to see a new kid on the block in the Russian 23 year old Daniil Medvedev, who took him to 5 sets. Hopefully he will be able to break the 'Top 3's  stranglehold on the majors. No one born in the 1990's has won a grand slam, which is an amazing stat.

That men's final was sensational.  Medvedev looks like a glue sniffer who just wandered in from the car park but he's an absolute Trojan.
