Watched the last 20. Poor fare. Only mcginn up to much. Tho some chance that el ghazi and ohare could do something. Tho both have been poor overall

Keeper looks shaky. Hopefully first day nerves

They look more cohesive. But then this is much closer to their first team

All in all, based on this, I don't think we'll see ohare again soon. Nor the 4231 we seem to be playing at times. And it's going to be Kodjia up front against Wigan.

But we can't all say we want to see players rested and then complain when it's disjointed

So finally seen the goal - not GK fault - striker first on the ball. So please do not jump on him straight off

That 45 minutes of football was as bad as anything Bruce served up.  Bloody rubbish.

Can we have some subs at half time too rather than let the game drift to the 70th minute.

Glen Whelan fuck off.

Just fuck off you old, slow, useless c***.

Why? Why does he keep fucking playing him? He does fucking nothing at all. I'm sick of managers playing certain useless fucking players over and over again. There was no reason at all to give Whelan a 4th start today in 5 games. None.

It's not just Grealish being out that has seen us play so poorly, it's that chronic waste of space, who should be melted down for glue rather than retired.

He's the reason we're so deep, as he's sat 5 yards in front of the back four. He's still, despite that, not getting close to ANY of the fucking runners. He's turgid moving the ball on.

Fuck off Glenn Whelan to Steve Bruce's Jurassic Park, so absolute waste of fucking space. Never play for this club again you useless ******.

It's more than disjointed though: it's really poor quality football.

It's what I've said all along about Whelan. When he plays we play so much deeper. He offers no protection to the back four,. He can't step up and be an attacking threat. He literally has this superpower of sucking the entire team towards our own goal and in doing so sucking the life out of the fans at the same time.

Sub 3 midfielders, move El Ghazi in the middle for O'Hare, Kodjia out wide, Bjarnasson for Whelan and Lansbury for Mcginn.

Mad the midfield hasn't been refreshed for this game. Pointless Whelan plays this game and McGinn deserves a breather.

DS selections become more odd in recent weeks.

We're not going to solve our problems till we get a decent defensive centre-midfielder. Defence has been generally shite for years, but hasn't helped that they never get any protection.

- Whelan doesn't have the legs, and constantly clogs it at every available opportunity, thus inviting more pressure.
- Jedinak - Likewise
- Hourihane - NOT a defensive midfielder. Doesn't tackle. In fact, I'd put him in the Hitz category..... Pops up with the odd belter of a shot but offers nothing else.

With the squad and injuries we have, I'd play 4-4-2, with SJM and Thor in the middle, Albert/El Ghazi on the wings, and Jimmy/Kienan + Hogan up front. We're not going to keep clean sheets with our current squad, so just adopt the Keegan approach.

*I do think that once the dust settles and we get new players in/back from injury, I'd give Bree a solid run at RB till end of season to prove himself. I think we have a half decent player there.

Love to have seen Lansbury play today, I'm convinced there is  player there still if he is given a chance.
