I really don't think we played as badly as some are suggesting. Hutton has been terrible, Hourihane is clearly not a DM replace those 2 and I think we'll look much better in defence. Going forward the one where Kodjia cut back and shot instead of squaring was a massive chance and The Mcginn effort off the bar was superb. Given the number of injuries and changes I'd take that against a team that's playing well and in with a chance of the playoffs themselves.

Pretty drab stuff. Another Bruce esque performance.

Recently, I haven't noticed a huge difference between how we played with Bruce in charge, and how we play with Smith at the helm. Same old bang average performances by too many bang average players.

We miss Grealish so much it's painful.

Come on Villa!

I get why Hourihane gets criticized to a point, but what were we really expecting when we bought him? On paper he gets a load of goals and assists. He just isn’t the energy bunny that McGinn is for example. Could he do more? Maybe but then would it take away from the other things that he does very well. It’s hard to find midfielders that will produce what he does.

The key with a lot of players at the club is we are asking them to do more than than their defined strengths. It’s the age old comment about how unbalanced this squad is.

I think Adomah did quite well. The midfield three look poor today and Kodjia is a greedy sod.

Agree, you accept that Hourihane is a passenger with a left foot and believe his impact is significant enough to be accommodated or you don’t.
I don’t  and for all the stick Whelan gets he does the DM job more effectively.

This is the sort of match that, if we fail to win it, we can really forget about the play offs this season.

QPR were absolutely gash, yet we looked like we were egging them on to score

He was never going to cut the mustard. Bang average.

Why has Hourihane been handed the holding role when Barneys more disciplined and effective in winning the ball, whilst still able to move the ball...I struggle to understand the logic...especially when its costing us at obvious times
