That was mostly a load of shite.  Still, won't sniff at a 1-0 win, but we need too be much, much better than we have been of late.
I will take more shite wins with a clean sheet

Playing shit and winning isn't sustainable though, as the 2 years under Bruce showed. We'll all take the shit 1-0 win today, if we want to be a top flight side next year we'll need to improve on the last few games, which I think we will do.

Nor is playing sexy football sustainable, what we need is the ability to win with good football and also win ugly. Get to January and sign only defenders which will help in us achieving that.

it's always good if you can grind out a result when you arnt playing well especially if you have a defined pattern and system of play to fall back on which is what I believe Smith is trying to build

it's not so good when the grinding becomes the style of play which you fall back on

I'm really hoping this is the difference between now and what we've seen in the last few years

Summed up perfectly. Gritting our results, whilst performing poorly, is not a long-term success strategy.

For me January is when I start to judge Smith, if he signs defenders then I'll be confident in his approach, but if he recalls Elphick and thinks that is enough then goes after attackers and midfielders then I'll have concerns.

The fact that he's already signed a keeper makes me think the 1st scenario is the one that's going to happen.

No but if we want to be successful we have to be able to do both. Play well and win but we also need to be able to grind it out if needed

I'm sure he knows what he needs to do in order to sort out the shambles Bruce has left us in. We have a high quality GK coming in. A few additions defensively and we will be in far better shape.

Still not really sure how much money is going to be available really, especially as we have already shelled out a decent amount of money on the keeper.  I think he deserves until the end of the season Bedford any judgement is passed.

Get Elphick back, send the keeper that must be blind (must be because how else is Nyland in instead of him) back then sign or loan a central defender then we'll have 2 starting centre backs and to back up centre backs. I'm not sure what else is needed as our attack doesn't need work on it.
