Apparently James Bree was very good today. He deserves a good run now. I'll be annoyed if he gets dropped on Saturday. Give  him a chance ffs!!

Dropped for who?

Automatics aint gone
Fkn right we aint, three draws and three losses behind dirty leeds, no problem.

Just over half the season gone, a long way to go. Just need to sort our defence out and we can get auto. Look what Fulham did last season.
Fulham had an unbelievable run and still only finished 3rd. Our imbalanced squad means we can get to the play offs but no chance for automatic in my opinion. We are too far adrift.

Our defence is nowhere good enough to gain promotion although Nyland had his best ever game today.   Swansea a depressing place and you can stock that drum. What was el gaze thinking about with that challenge. Preston it is

I agree with all of that....except that I don't think Swansea is depressing. Had a great walk and brunch in the Mumbles overlooking the bay. Has some great coastline nearby too.

Basically will take that. A clean sheet !
Wasn't greatest performance but a ground out win for the victory and a bit of luck/skill to save the pen.

Have to say Hourihane has such a knack for goals quite ridiculous.

And bolasie and el ghazi as front players who can get away from 3 or 4 players surrounding them in tight areas are incredibly skill full and better than half the premier league players for skill level.

Kodjia and Abrahams are not too bad either so can't think of more footy skilled attacking players in league.

Up the villa.

Anyone got the boxing day farts?

I have, mine started around 1 am this morning, I dropped one this morning so bad the cat looked at me in disgust and left the house in a hurry via the cat flap only to return 4 hours later.
:)

He is not joking. My missus got in the car an hour after Jon and stated the car smelt 'funny'.

Enjoyed yesterday, both on and off the pitch.

Tight game, thought they were brighter and sharper than us, but didn't really cause us too many problems. Bree and Chester looked alright together. It seemed a single goal would win it and so it proved.

Great run and cross by TSC and excellent header by Conor. Atmosphere in the second half was much better (first half was like a morgue) and well done to Nyland. I'm still far from convinced, but he's done better in the last few games and obviously did well saving the pen from Bony.

Good to see almost all the players handing their shirts into the crowd at the end too.

That was mostly a load of shite.  Still, won't sniff at a 1-0 win, but we need too be much, much better than we have been of late.
I will take more shite wins with a clean sheet

Playing shit and winning isn't sustainable though, as the 2 years under Bruce showed. We'll all take the shit 1-0 win today, if we want to be a top flight side next year we'll need to improve on the last few games, which I think we will do.

Nor is playing sexy football sustainable, what we need is the ability to win with good football and also win ugly. Get to January and sign only defenders which will help in us achieving that.

it's always good if you can grind out a result when you arnt playing well especially if you have a defined pattern and system of play to fall back on which is what I believe Smith is trying to build

it's not so good when the grinding becomes the style of play which you fall back on

I'm really hoping this is the difference between now and what we've seen in the last few years
