A 9 page pisstake Does not = obsession. It means that people like taking the piss out of their local rivals who are obsessed about drinking in town and boasting about it.

Yeah, it does.  Don't know why people can't admit it.

No it doesn’t, Bren is right.

A few weeks ago a bloke I know through work was taking the piss when they went above us for a couple of weeks, I’ll see him tomorrow and give him a bit back. It’s just how it is.

They invent spurious arguments such as drinking in town and all living within walking distance of the Sty because they know when it comes to the things that matter they are miles away from us. Some of them probably believe the nonsense but I am sure most, away from the Internet, just spout it as a wind up.

No he's not.  Whilst we love to say we're not, you only have to look at the threads, you tube videos etc etc to realise it's not true.  Obviously many of us try to rise above it but the reality is a huge amount of Villa fans are just as obsessed as Blues fans and it's hypocritical to suggest otherwise.

I do not think a single neutral would ever seriously say anything other than Villa are bigger than Birmingham by any sensible measure you make.

Just as you cannot dispute Forest are bigger County, Stoke are bigger than Port Vale, Barcelona are bigger than Espanyol, Real are bigger than Athletico, Juventus are bigger than Torino, Hamburg are bigger than St Pauli.

Others you can debate but I would as an outsider say Liverpool are bigger than Everton, Man U are bigger than Man C, Wednesday are bigger than United, Sunderland are bigger than Newcastle, Bristol City are bigger than Rovers.

Agree with almost everything you say, but Sunderland bigger than Newcastle? I don’t think so.

I think there's almost nothing between Newcastle and Sunderland. The press pushed Newcastle up a bit when Keegan was there (and then later with Shearer) but the truth is both of them are well supported clubs, with great facilities, that haven't won anything for 40-50 years. Right now Sunderland are in a real low point but there's rarely all that much between the 2 of them.

The big difference is that our mentioning of them mostly rears its head when we play them.  I think that for most of the rest of the time, the majority of Villa fans see them as an irrelevance.  Whereas Blues fans have a deep-rooted sense of hatred for all things "vile" that penetrates their every waking moment.  You only have to see a snippet of a Blues-WBA match to see this.  Their inferiority complex really does know no bounds.

Yep, if we're not in the same league as them the only time you really hear villa fans comment on them is the 'shit on the city' chants at games and the odd pisstake if they get a hammering.

Speaking of chants I really wish the villa would start singing "small heath are you listening" instead of "Birmingham" as it plays right into their hands with the whole "were the true club of Birmingham" crap that they love to spout. Just sayin.

I always thought that song was addressing the city rather than the club of the same name.

Don't think so. I think it's sung at them not about them but I don't want to be accused of picking hairs or splitting flies.

I spotted a flag on the TV yesterday at the cricket in Sri Lanka with a Blues badge on and in the corner it inevitably had 'SOTV'.  Part of their identity of being a Blues fan is a hatred of Villa.  It's almost as important to them as supporting their own club.  You see many Villa flags at the cricket and I can't recall ever seeing one with anything about Blues on them.

They sign off all their FB posts with "KRO SOTV", too. If it's just when we are playing them you can understand it, but for those sad twats it's all year round. "Merry Christmas KRO SOTV", "Can't wait for my summer holiday KRO SOTV", "Sister, will you marry me? KRO SOTV".

Au contraire.  It's much, much more important.

It's been said many times before, but most Blues fans would be more than happy finishing 23rd and being relegated as long as "Da Vile" finished 24th!

I agree with Adam, the first line is surely addressing Birmingham as a place and not them as a team.  Otherwise why would it then go on to mention "The City" later in the line?  None of our songs ever reference them as just "Birmingham" that I can recall.
