We only had two shirts used in that season with various shorts and socks combos. Fulham have White, Black, Blue and Red shirts, plus shorts and socks.

If you're a parent, you'll pay for it, either in cash or pain.

I'm sure we've already had a couple of combos whilst playing away. blue socks rather than claret, blue looking far better to me.

Only if you're a mug.  Why feel pressured to buy kids more than one or two kits?

You don't need to buy them but you'll get nagged about it! Though to avoid being 'a mug' you could just tape their gobs shut.
