I've said this before, the teams in London and the South appear to have been well provided for on Boxing Day; which can't be explained simply on the basis that there are quite a few of them.

The fixtures in all the leagues on Boxing Day are always arranged so a Northern team will never meet a Southern team and this season, this is also gonna be the case for the fixtures, scheduled for 29 December.

We have drawn the short straw playing Newcastle away and it will be for the first time in our history. We have played them only once on 26 December and that was at home in 1898.

Just in case I've missed it, everyone is welcome to check it.

Boxing Day and New Years Day games should be as close to local derbies as they can feasibly be.   Simple as.
so Wolves H on 26th , then Wolves A on the 1st

They pretty much are. You can't have actual derbies over Winterval as it's difficult to get sufficient police numbers to deal with football issues at that time of year. The Southern teams all play each other, so do the Midlands/Northern teams. Unfortunately, someone has to play Newcastle and this year it's us (they travel to Man U the following Saturday).

I hate Boxing Day games. There should be no matches unless there's public transport both inside and between cities.

Recommend it? I'm confident I've done the first two... But I'm a lover, not a fighter. Sounds like you're both!
