Where was the Jedi? Why was Gardner on the bench (would D-H not have been a better option)? Why was Axel not on the bench?

Jedi was ill and Axel wasn’t registered in time.
Cheers Paul. Currently out of the country so slightly out of touch (or so it seems).

Pretty comfortable in the end, though they did carve us open a couple of times. I doubt we'll see much of Elphick and Taylor this season, which is a good thing. Good to see Green and RHM come on, Kodjia defintely needs a goal  I think he'll be a different player when he gets one.

7.5 mins of roughly edited highlights https://highlightsfootball.com/video/hull-city-vs-aston-villa-highlights/

Lovely chorus of The Scottish Cafu included.
Thanks for posting.

Moments like Alan Hutton’s goal and his and the fans celebration are the reason why we all follow this mad crazy team.
Brilliant scenes.

The perfect start to the season.

Everyone understands what a slog this is. There are no undeserved points, or lucky wins, just the spoils to be stashed away after each game to be cashed in at the end of the season.

From when he was appointed I said SB should be given three seasons whatever happened in order that some sort of stability on the playing side was restored.  I have stood by that, and  continue to do so.

As poor as they were Hull waltzed through our defence on four occasions any team with a bit of quality we would have been in trouble. Green looks ready to be a proper footballer now and lots of pace. Kodjia is a shadow of when he first joined us not sure what the problem is but he needs replacing. We have started with a win lets hope its a sign.

A better team would have punished us at least once, but Steer showed his capabilities and deserves keeping the jersey on this performance, although ne needs a stronger defence in front of him.

Have a pop at Jameson and I'll break your neck.

Charming. But I think you might have issues.

I don't think Malandro has issues at all.  As for Chris Jameson, he contributes to this forum in a n informed erudite manner and being a Yorkshireman calls a spade a spade.  I have a lot of time for both men.  ATAL, I think you're out of order.

If a target man come in I'd move Kodjia to the left for a few games but I can't shake the feeling something isn't right with him.

We were okay. scoreline flattered us somewhat. Elphick was dodgy i agree but the goal was all steer's fault with a completely duff punch. You can only beat what's in front of you so fair play because the 1st game of the season away is not an easy fixture. Sterner tests ahead i think

A win is what we needed and a win is what we got, as has been said, I do not think you will see that starting 11 very often this season, thank god.
The Kodja thing needs deeper thought, Hogan comes here is crap, Kodja is going the same way, maybe just maybe it is because both are fed up of balls going over there heads, when they both pay better off the shoulder of the last defender, not being asked to be a mixture of Lochead, Withe and Macanally, which they are not. Play to their strengths and we may have options.

I thought we played pretty well overall but will face more difficult tests obviously. I think the team will be a bit better in a months time, maybe sooner, certainly Elphick scares the shit out of me still (although fair play with his goal). You wouldn't want Whelan or Taylor starting as first choice either and although Steer did fine I think we'll get an upgrade there too which might be better in the tougher games. Hourahane will play better than that too and Kodjia will hopefully once he's fully recovered. Hutton and Elmo close run for MOTM.

Agreed. I was dancing round my living room for three reasons

1. Villa scored
2. Hutton scored - Really great to see and well deserved after all the pelters he has taken in the past
3. I won £50 as I'd predicted we would win 3-1

The punch wasn’t the best but neither was it the worst, it made the edge of the area but the volley back was really well placed and Elphick made a hash of trying to get to it. Nine times out of ten you would get away with that.
