Adomah's goals masked a little how ineffective he was in most games

You have to admire the use of logic in this post. Those pesky ineffective goals ruined everything.

Yep, scoring in a 3rd of the games means he must've played well in the other 2/3rds, that's clearly the sensible logic here.  If you're in doubt though feel free to read back through the match and post match threads on here, you won't find many people saying he played well in the games where he didn't score and it was because playing on that wing didn't look natural to him.  If we'd have let him and Snoddy swap wings during games it would've helped a lot.

On top of that he's another one who was clearly in need of a rest in the last few weeks.

I thought Adomah was great last season. If anything, he should have scored more than he did but being top scorer from the wing is not to be sniffed at. He probably helped set up a few as well.

Agreed on that bit, i think he was jaded late on in the season and it effected his performances. He looked lively and back to something like his best in the pre season game in Dresden. Hopefully if we can get Snodgrass back we can mix it up with those two and the fit again and promising looking Green. We could also look to play Elmo right side at times given the number of full backs we have.

This is a really important point; one made severally by several posters on here during the course of last season.
Adomah and Snodgrass were effective, for sure, at the Championship level. But how much more effective would both had been if they hadn't been 'chained' to the wrong wing?! Opponents soon sussed out the manager's 'crafty' plan that each could cut inside onto their stronger foot and let go a shot, perhaps.
As the season wore on, both got more and more ineffectual, and the coaching staff didn't seem to see that it was a tired approach by players who themselves were probably tired.

I hope that our wingers are not hobbled by our manager's tactics this season. Or, maybe, we're not going to play wingers this season ….

You do realise that is Snodgrass's preferred side/position?

The reason he stated for leaving spam is that he was played out of position eg on left.  It was almost like a prenuptial that he played on right for us.

1-1, after this summer a draw to start the campaign would be excellent, if we get all 3 points incredible.

Like many attacking players, Adomah has his good spells along with the not so good ones.  He had more good spells than bad last season, but like Snodgrass, he should have been rotated at times.

I'd be happy to start with a draw.

I wouldn't. I think Hull will be a bottom half of the table side and the sort of team we need to be beating home or away if we are to have any chance of finishing in the top six.

We drew with them twice last season and still finished comfortably top 6. I get what you're saying though.

For me we have a reasonably good 6-7 games to start and I'd say 11 points by start of September should be the target.

I like the fact that we are currently 15th in the table despite not having played.  Will Bruce take advantage of this to push up into the promotion? A 0-5 thrashing of Hull will take us to the top of the table. Piece of piss really!
