Where's Able gone?  To think we were thinking of spending £19m on the fat, unfit fucker two years ago.
Ross Mac, cheap at 67% of the price...

CSKA Moscow on a free.

Just noticed that Vagner Love scored tonight for Besiktas. He must be about 40!

Bloody hell, what a blast from the past. Which reminds me, we haven't been linked with Benni McCarthy yet.

That Moscow game, thought the blond haired winger called Krasic was the best player on the pitch at VP. He signed for Juventus shortly afterwards but flopped there.

Now plays for Lechia Gdansk.

Yeah, I remember Krasic looking good. Most of their back line played for Russia for over 10 years.

Yep Akinfeev in goal and Ignasevitch also played.

Kodjia fit so I guess he'll have to start. Would like to see BB in a midfield three with Grealish and Hourihane, Green on the left, Albert on the right. Elmohamady rb, Hutton lb, RDL partnering Chester...this managerial lark seems a doddle.

Not enough players out of position, try again!

This has got 0-0 written all over it. I have a severe sense of foreboding that we’ll limp into the season like last year and be well adrift of the leaders again by the end of August. There is some mitigation for that but despite the takeover I’m just not getting a sense of a club with a determined focus to hit the ground running. Either that or I’m a miserable git.

I don't get why people say this. The only players he played out of position on a regualar basis last season were Adomah and Hutton and they did ok. Onomah got pushed out wide now and again but that was more or less it I think.

Jedinak at centre back, a fair few times late in the season Grabban was pushed onto the left wing.

Apparently Hepburn Murphy or what ever his name is won't be fit for this one so I'm going to say narrow defeat. Had he been I think we'd have romped to victory.

Whelan as a box to box midfielder, Hattrick scoring Houriance moved back to defensive midfield. The lad from Man Utd at right back (when we had 3 or 4 on the bench).
