For anyone in the US, the game is on ESPN+ which requires a subscription (they offer a free 7 day trial for new subscribers), http://www.espn.com/watch/espnplus

Beat Arsenal but lost at Chelsea even though we played better against the latter. Okore and the Beast looked great if I'm remembering correctly.

That Chelsea game, didn’t Ivanvic get a late winner despite the fact he should have been sent off for an elbow earlier in the game?

And Appleyard punched the ball and no penalty was given.

I just think there a too many square pegs in round holes if we play 3-5-2 so as it stands would go with:

                            Steer

De Laet      Chester           Jedinak      Hutton

                           Whelan

                 Grealish       Hourihane

Adomah                 Kodjia                  Green

Hopefully there will be a few new faces coming in this week and although I initially winced at the idea of opening the season on a Monday night, it might work in our favour in that regard.

De Laet ahead of Elmo and Bree? Right back...the one area where we continue to have a multitude of options.

Jedinak can't have much pre-season done, wouldn't be surprised to see Elphick in ahead of him if he is still at the club.

It's still a side that should be beating Hull. Hopefully Green can start off the season well.

De Laet has looked good in pre season. Wish I could say the same about Kodja …..

With SB's negative safety first mindset in full flow I predict a low scoring bore draw.  I'll go 1-1.

Had a phone call two hours ago.
"Got a job in Hull, three days, any chance you can do it?"
"When?"
"Short notice; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday next week."

Considering how much time I spend working away, it'll be the first time I've been working somewhere when the Villa have rolled into town since Sunderland in 1996!

So I've gone and got meself a ticket.

Nailed on shite 0-0.

We could draw 0-0 and the game would still be the highlight.

I agree - I once spent 3 days in Hull - never again if I can help it.

Wouldn't shock me if it's 0-0 or 1-1.

Have Hull signed anyone of note? All I know is they've lost Dawson and Abel Hernandez, two of their best players.
