If you fancy a laugh, look at that lot.com's (massive) Villa thread, loads of bantz about how we're going tits up, penniless, followed by a serious hush as they all realise we're getting billionaire owners.

It's a bit like this:

I've just emailed one of my friends in Milwaukee to see what we can expect from Wes, eg how hand on will he be

Another friend is a basketball analyst, so hopefully he'll have some insight as well

Great news.  First few jobs....Keep Jack and Chester and ignore FFP.

Pitch is coming on nicely

We always had a football club to support. Just saying.

I can’t imagine Wyness having the contacts to arrange this deal. Maybe that was what pissed Xia off originally,

These chaps sound legit from a quick glance on the internet, there’s no question that they have some money.

The fact that it took just a few seconds to find extensive online info on both certainly looks better than trying to dig out details on Tone. That was like cracking the genome

Good news - a UK-based gazillionaire should put to bed any further issues around paying tax bills and administration.

A reputable H&V bean counter’s approval is the best validation we can get of this new found wealth. Just need Risso to second the motion.

I’m in Bristol getting pissed so will defer to Adam’s considerable expertise.

Looks like good news though. First half of the problem in cash flow sorted, the second in FFP looks a bit harder to circumvent.

That's good enough for me. As you were.

Fair play to Dr T for appearing to have dug us out of the hole he had got us into. On face value they seem solid, reliable and rich blokes. It appears Edens is or was joint owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, so we should be able to dig out some information as to how they have fared under his control.

Losing Chester IMO is the worst thing that could happen for the short term i.e. next season. Fucking hell.

Chester and Grealish are the only ones I would be bitterly disappointed to see leave this summer.  If Chester goes to another Championship club for well under Ł10m it would be a real kick in the teeth.

Indeed, although maybe the new investors will Hathor cunning plan up their sleeves?

The one thing that might work in our favour is that neither player is seemingly desperate to leave the club.

But why would they stay?

If we don't sell them we'll definitely breach FFP.  Doesn't matter how rich any potential new owner is - the cost base is just too high.

So if we keep them and win the league but breach FFP the league will just refuse us promotion, as they can under the current rules.  So Grealish and Chester literally have no possibility of getting promoted with the Villa.  So why bother?

Them going helps us and them.  There's no way it won't happen.

What if one of our new investors bought/ordered replica shirts to the tune of 40m profit, as "gifts". Is commercial revenue "pure" in terms of FFP?

I've asked a lawyer turned journalist in Milwaukee for some info too.

Crivens! It looks like the cavalry have arrived just in time. Here's to the new guys sorting out the financial mess quicksticks; and setting us up for a positive season on the pitch.

Marvelous scenes
