Xia will be desperate to sell Grealish as this seems the only way that we will stay out of administration.  Once we are there, the person overseeing the process will have to listen to sensible offers for all players and any offers for the club.  Perhaps this is what any potential buyer is waiting for.  Therefore, selling Grealish is likely to see us keeping Xia and Bruce, because we currently can't afford to sack him.  If we sack him after Grealish is sold, it will leave us with way too little time to recruit a decent Manager and subsequently buy players.  This is a conspiracy theory of course but I wouldn't trust Xia now, particularly as there are literally no football minded people on his operational board.

The current uncertainty surrounding the club takes me back to the state we were in back in 1968 where an ageing board lacked the financial clout and modern thinking to stop us from plummeting down the league's and almost obscurity
We were almost broke and heading for bankruptcy before the likes of Matthews and Ellis took an  interest
I think the stakes are potentially higher this time around due the the apparent volumes of debt - foreign ownership has done us little or no favours with the lack of transparency about the current owner -  I do hope that the mutterings about Xia not wishing to sell to an American buyer are unfounded - we need the options to include all legitimate, interested parties.
I'm not sure if a statement from Xia will be of much credence bearing in mind his history of spouting utter pie in the sky nonsense - unless of course it's to say he has sold us to a credible  buyer or consortium. Like many on here I really fear for the club's short and long term future on and off the park - we require strong leadership and clarity now more than any other time in our recent history if not ever. Let's hope there is an astute benefactor out there with a realistic vision for the future

Have to agree. The lack of leadership is pretty astounding at the moment, even for us.

I'll be visiting Liverpool on Saturday by the way, any tips on somewhere decent to go for a drink?

Lots bars round Concert square. The area round Mathews St has some good boozers. There's a fan park for the world cup. Not sure where though. Probably down by the Albert dock.

Anywhere in the City is fine - it's an eclectic mix of venues where people of all ages seem to mix happily without any edginess
Hope  you have a brilliant day

Thanks VCTM and The Edge. Looking forward to it! Been over 30 times to Liverpool and Everton but never seen the City Centre!

Surely if he was desperate to sell Grealish wouldn't we have accepted an offer already?

Pretty sure no one has made one yet, which makes accepting one pretty difficult ;)

Just journo's trying to fill space, no-one has made a bid. The irony of the situation is that in the past we have seen great players manoeuvre their way out of Villa Park for money or glory, here we have a player that desperately wants to stay with the club he loves and through no fault of his or the supporters is being used to compensate for the worst management I have seen at Villa. I just hope that an investor can be found to allow Grealish to stay.

each morning I wake up hoping that the last six weeks or so have been a Bobby Ewing-type dream in the shower episode and that the reality is we are back in the PL with not a care in the world.

My take for what it's worth is that any potential buyer will now back off in the hope that we slip into administration and they can pick up the club on the cheap. Why oh why do we never get a break. If Xia trying to save face is at the bottom of this then he is beneath contemp.

I’d have thought that if Xia wants to save any face then he’d flog us in the middle of a World Cup when nobody else is looking. Bury bad news and all that. Instead he’s doing a Howard Hughes impression which makes me hate him even more.
