Wrt the banned football shirts, I see the guy is back in his Finland (Suomi) hockey shirt. There's also a young lad in a Mayo GAA shirt, so they need to start enforcing the dress code more strictly.

Oh are football shirts banned? I was wondering only yesterday where the bloke in the Coventry shirt was these days.

I was there today and there was a bloke in a West Ham jacket and I spotted what looked like a retro England Admiral top too. In terms of other sports, someone was wearing a Williams racing top.

Were you watching Ronnie? He looked very sharp in that second session.

No, he was the other side of the screen unfortunately. I saw Day and Brecel making a dog's dinner of things, for the most part.

That's a shame , but the luck of the draw I guess. Ryan Day makes me smile, as he get older he looks more like the CEO of a bank than a snooker player.

They certainly were banned a few years back but I saw someone in a retro Arsenal top there last year, they were sat quite near the back though.

That Coventry bloke seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth, he's normally there year in, year out, hope he's OK!

Yes I think he has been there, watching Ronnie yesterday whilst strangely sporting dark sunglasses.

The 'Suomi' bloke seems to be at every session. He's starting to annoy me with his little banners though.

Eddie Hearn is in charge now rather than Barry Hearn so they may have changed the rules again re: football shirts. I think they tried to limit the number of tickets one person could buy so as to give more people a chance to attend and the Coventry bloke stopped attending altogether in a strop. Sounds like he's back now but as a more occasional viewer. When I was last there he was wearing a short sleeve shirt clearly designed to look like a retro Coventry shirt, to get around the ban.

I suspect the ban was due to the large number of teams that are sponsored by betting companies, resulting in potential free advertising for the tournament sponsor’s competitors sitting in shot throughout the matches. The reduction in gambling sponsorship may have led to a relaxation of the ban. That’s my tuppence worth anyway, I’m no ITK on this.
