I would quite like to have been there, too. Disappointing that the exciting conclusion to the season was, as usual, played at a time when it was massively inconvenient for fans to attend. I appreciate that it is (up to) four days, so always going to clash with some of the working week, but there is no reason whatsoever that they couldn't have arranged the match to span the weekend too. It seems that county cricket only cares about the grey pound and doesn't want to attract new fans.

Yes, I know I'm always moaning about this. Sorry.

I completely agree with you CD. I’m seriously considering getting a membership next year but until I see the fixtures and establish how many games I can actually get to I won’t commit to it.

I was there yesterday and it was fabulous and quite emotional fot Trotty.

Agree and with all other forms of the game finished, they could have have had the games spanning the weekend (maybe start on Friday and finish Monday).

Great article on Trotty and he will be sorely missed.  Pretty much everything you would want in a number three batsman in the longer form of the game, but his record in ODI cricket is more than impressive as well.

This? Great article, assume it is the one you mean.

That’s a fantastic article.

Agreed, excellent article for a guy who deserves legendary status at the county.  I think he's right in saying that making the decision early in the season helped him, like Cook for England, he played like a weight had been lifted.

My Missus is now working at Edgbaston and said that Moeen is ‘a lovely man’, which is nice to hear.

Shame he’s a Brummie Red.

Moeen seems a really switched of chap.  Great player and we (WCCC) could have done with seeing a lot more of him in the side this season.  I think we need another batsman and a bowler if we are to compete at the very top of the second division next season.  Leach will return, a big boost and Parnell is staying on as a Kolpak player.

Moeen should still be a Bear. I think it was under Mark Greatbatch that he left and wasn't getting a look in. A disatrous season that Giles had to re-build at the time - like he's done so again. Credit to Gilo!

A couple more departures from Edgbaston, not so high profile as Barker and Wright but disappointing for the individuals
concerned, Andy Umeed and Sunny Singh have both left the club this week.
I don't know if many of you recall but Umeed scored 101 on debut in 2016 at Edgbaston v Durham, Sunny once took 6/144 at Southampton at the start
of 2017 season. local lad went to George Dixon school. He was born in India
Good luck to whereever they both end up in their careers.

When he was a youth player at Warwickshire he was “farmed out” to Water Orton (possibly 2004?) to play Saturday Birmingham league. A really really nice lad, understated. Not heard a bad word about him.

Disappoint about both of those, they seemed promising young players but both went backwards after showing promise early on.

In Umeeds case don't think so much of him regressing but more to do with Rhodes and Sibley being brought into the club.

Very possibly but I thought he might push into the team in the spot Trott is leaving but he's clearly not convinced them that he can do so.

I think they're expecting Adam Hose or maybe Matty Lamb to do that.

I'm pleased with Wessels joining WCCC. Good experience as long as he finds that consistency. Good in all formats of the game too if I recall.  Need another bowler now.
