Bears have a lead of 18 after 1st innings..........Rain Forecast this afternoon as well but should be a full days play on Friday

Pears lost to Hampshire

Hopefully by close of play tonight they will have a big enough total that will give them as close to a full day as possible to bowl Durham out.  Going to be a big ask though.

According to the Met Office heavy rain forecast between 1.00pm and 5.00pm....May wipe out lots of today's play

So long as it rains solid in Kent and Sussex, too, that'll be fine.

I'd like to see us go for it tomorrow - 104 overs available apparently, so bat for around half those, push the lead up to 250 and try and bowl them out.

Think the two defeats this week for the Pears have pretty much put the lid on relegation being as they were against 2 of the other sides in the mix.  Will take a hell of a run to get out of it.

Serious question Gareth do your lot literally spend one season only in each division ?

Pears are competing against bigger clubs.  That said, they seem to implode at every given opportunity and have put in some fairly abject performances this season.  They have really needed a strong opener, a more experienced middle order batsman and another decent bowler.  Instead, they go for academy players when they are not ready.  Twohig, Milton are not ready.   Fell and Clarke offer promise but haven't quite moved on to a higher level yet, hopefully they will.

Yup, over the last few years our squad has been good enough to be at top of div 2 but not good enough once we get into div 1.

Having said that we have generally done well with recruiting overseas players & not used much in the way of Kolpaks whilst having a base of local talent, particularly Shropshire.

Generally I think we over achieve and it would be good to see a few of the other non test ground counties develop more local players rather than going for Kolpaks by the bucket load.

Only 96 overs today the previous 2 days were 104 in effort to claw back overs from day 1.
This morning wickets tumbling with Bell (10) Sibley (27) & Trott (13) so are 68/4 lead 86.
Advantage Durham.
I haven't gone down today aswanting to watch Cook's last knock.
