A good couple of batting sessions today and the Bears should be in a good position to win this.

Saw a tweet from the club earlier. At the start of play Bell needed 61 runs to reach 20,000 first class runs and Patel needs 1 wicket for 800 first class victims.

We must secure as many batting points as we can because it looks like second placed Sussex won’t get a batting point.

Don't want to jinx it, but Bell and Hain hopefully looking set here to post a big score.

Bell gets his 100 and then passes 20,000 runs. Well done that man.

Brilliant achievement given how many summers of county cricket he 'missed' with England.

On the game 254/4
Bell 117*
Hain 43*

2nd batting point secured, we should get 4-5 from here hopefully.

3rd batting point up, Hain went a while back (for 61) but Ambrose is in and offering good backup for Bell who's still ticking along.

318/5
Bell 141*
Ambrose 14*

Big lead so you'd think the win is probably in the bag (with our bowling and their batting record) so 16 overs to push for the last 2 batting points, I'd like them to give it 1-2 overs after tea and then start smashing it.

Sussex are struggling in their match too and didn’t secure any batting points.

By the look of it we'll get the 4th batting point fairly easily but the 5th looks a stretch now.

Ambrose Has gone (for 22) and Barker is in though so that might change things as Ambrose was being very watchful.

346/6 (102)
Bell 160*
Barker 1*

In the other important games:

Sussex took a 2 run lead over Middlesex into the 2nd innings but the latter are doing much better this time round on 141/4. If they can set a target of 200-250 I think that's a big ask on day 3/4 on that wicket.

Kent got to 561 and Derbs are 117/1 in response so that one could easily end with no result on the 4th day.

If both of those go our way it'll be a massive boost towards promotion.

Looks like we've decided to play it safe and keep building a score instead of going for the 5th batting point.

357/6 probably not far off a score that means we don't bat again given Glamorgan have the worst batting line-up in the division.

Middlesex onto 183/5 (lead 181) so that game is going nicely for us.
Derbs 158/2 and need over 400 to avoid th efollow-on so that's in the balance still really.  If they can get up round 400 I think it will be hard for either side to get a positive result there.

Bears 408-6 Bell 189 not out and a lead of 205 runs. It's in the bag.
