Ah Terry Cooper and his insistence it was offside.

There's a circus in the town...

On my way back other than the 5-1 that was the most one sided derby I can remember of recent times. Grealish was immense today fair play to him to not reacting to the treatment they were dishing out.  Hourihane’s goal was a thing of beauty gonna live long in the memory. I think it might be a while before we play that lot again. Up the Villa.

Small Heath had one moment all game, when Terry stumbled to allow Gallagher in. Apart from that they offered absolutely nothing. If they don't go down it will be a massive indictment on this league.

Great performance from start to finish, should have been more than two. Jack is really dominating games now and it has such an effect on the whole side, creates so much space for others. Really got stuck into them in the first twenty minutes, won every second ball, showed them up for the shower they really are. Got a feeling that's the last time we will play them for a while.

Unlike them if the boot was on the other foot, I feel no need to gloat or give it the big 'un. They are arguably the worst Small Heath team I have ever seen along with the team of the late eighties and early nineties. Even Terry Coopers Triton Showers of shit vintage gave us a better couple of games in the cup in the BFR days. Our second goal was fanastic, which set me thinking about our best goals against them. I thought of Allan Evans in 1980 and Gary Cahill's  at The Holte. Plus peter Withe's at the Holte in 1983 for a bit of comedy value. If my memory serves me right the two goals by Gage and Gray at their place in the league cup in 1988 were decent.

On the same note, try and think of one of their efforts that was cleanly struck, never mind pleasing on the eye. I can only think of Forsell's equaliser when Gabby won it late at their place.

The rest have been a selection of mis-kicks, rebounds and keeper howlers.

Magnificent today, such a massive gulf in class both on and off the pitch.

Outside of a couple of incidents this was the most comfortable derby I can ever recall. We are far the better side and now 7 wins in a row are in tremendous form headed to Fulham. Great result.

Jack was outstanding again

Cmon, the 5-1 was a cakewalk.

It was as expected. We are much better than them and we proved that out there. Not read the thread so far but full credit to Bruce and Calderwood. They worked out Cotterill's  plan and snuffed it by selecting Jedinak. I like many others had  WTF face when I first saw the team sheet but I am so pleased those responsible knew what they were doing. 2-0 is absolutely unfair scoreline but 3 points and second place it is..... we march on.

Pretty much as comfortable a derby win as you could imagine. I don't think we ever, nor ever needed to get out of second gear.

Now the pressure is on us for the first time. Let's see how we handle it.

Would be ideal if the 10k extra supporters that turned up today could continue to do so throughout the run in

Cotterill gave an honest summing up, said they deserved nothing from the game and that the occasion got to some of his younger players.
Dave yes I listened to that in the car on the way back. Really impressed with that guy. However did you hear the next caller, a blose, ranting on about how Cotterill is not good enough to manage their club and finished with "he should be in charge of a club like Nuneaton" . Deluded is not the word....

Blose weren't as shit as is being made out, they had the best chance of the first half and right up until our goal were frustrating us. Once we scored their heads dropped but they're no worse than most of the teams we've beaten at VP. I'd rather focus on how professional and decent we were. That Grealish roll for Adomah's goal and the cute Hoor's howitzer, just magical...

Watched it with Olofs Beard of this parish in Farringdon, London. Plenty of screens showing Villa but audio was of two non-entities in the Preemier playing each other.

I said the exact same to a couple of mates right after the game. Everyone of their wins against us benefited from some kind of defensive error or stroke of luck, they rarely ever produce any kind of skill or great football. They’re just a bunch of hoofers and fighters and it’s all they’ve ever been.

Huddersfield-Bournemouth was one of the games of the season as I had 20 quid on last goal of the game being a penalty.

It's been a good afternoon!
