Old Holte End pictures, Please dig out and post!!
« on: January 31, 2018, 10:04:28 PM »
Hi everyone,

Please look and see if you can find any good pictures/ photos of the old Holte full. I am looking to get a big poster for my summer house.  Any photos of the AV floodlights on taken from behind the Holte would be great. Cheers!   Mods, maybe this could be a sticky?

Cheers guys! Keep them coming.  I also had a great photo of Sid with the cup at Rotterdam as my wallpaper but lost it. I have seen a few with the cup on Sid’s head but the one I had was with Sid grinning and hanging the cup nonchalantly to his left leg.  I found it on the net about 10 years ago.  It was a great colour photo.  I can’t find it again.

Great pic before the middle fences went in.  I saw a big colour photo of this a while ago on the net but can’t find it.

Pretty sure if it was colour that it's been doctored. Most likely a b&w Terry Weir photo.

No it was definitely colour.  Lost it when I binned my old PC. Gutted.  It made me smile every morning.

Not all of these fit your criteria but you may find them interesting.

That is surely one of the greatest pictures ever taken at a football ground. Absolutely amazing - capacity 25k+ ??

My favourite VP picture

Bolton v Charlton FA Cup semi final 1946. Superb photo.

In the mid 1970s I can remember being at a match where the Holte was photographed for an advertising campaign for Ansells Bitter (Ansells Bittermen-you cant't beat 'em,  so join them!). The images went up on full sized billboards around the area the following season.  They were pretty impressive as well.

My favourite VP picture

According to Simon Inglis it had a theoretical capacity of 40,000.
