Alan Wright with a screamer and then Tommy Johnson slotting home after a 30 pass move. Happy New Year Middlesbrough at the BT Cellnet Stadium.

We could lose with Bruce remaining in post.
We could draw or scrape a win and Bruce would surely stay.

None are particularly appealing. We can't keep watching this turgid,  clueless,  unacceptable nonsense.

Scraping a win is fine by me. Regardless of whether you think a manager should be in charge or not, 3 points tomorrow is what everyone should want.

Everyone wants a win but currently to what end? We've no style, flair, or pace. It can't be blamed on injuries.  Bruce's methods are looking increasingly Lambertesque.

I take your point but he's going to get stick if he wins anyway, so we might as well get the three points. Those three points will either help Bruce or any manager that comes in.

Too many times have we faced the Manager result dilemma.
Wanting the Villa to win but knowing that if we do, it probably extends the mangers time in the job.

I don't think Tony is anywhere near sacking Bruce, but what do I know? In a world when the sacked manager of Sheffield Wednesday lands a plum premier league job, we'd probably end up with Paul Lambert!

It's what we desperately need.

Great goals, and a great New Year's Day win. Not such an enjoyable journey to Middlesbrough and back for me though, having been in the Que Club until 6am that morning. Those were the days.

A win is what we all should be looking for despite our opinions on the manager. If he wins every game from now to the end of the season, that'll be fine by me.
