This fixture always brings back really bad memories of being at school with Boro supporters and having to face them after the inevitable defeat. Always involved a harrowing afternoon that generally involved getting from Ayresome Park to the railway station without being assaulted. Had a 50% success rate over the years.

Pulis to punt it long. Whelan to give it away constantly. Bruce to go with a 4-6-0 career saving don’t lose approach ending in a 2-0 loss.

You should have gone with me last time I went up there, Chris. The police met 2 of us at the train station (they were expecting hundreds), threw us in the back of the van (they had double decker buses waiting) and dropped us off right outside the ground. They picked us up after the game and drove us back to the station too. The only thing missing was the win.

Boro win 2-0, leaving Bruce with a must win to save his job v Bristol, which with JT fit we'll then win to paper over the cracks.
