Villa interest at the World Cup
« on: December 08, 2017, 02:17:35 PM »
I noticed that Karim El Ahmadi is going to the World Cup (with Morocco). No doubt he'll look amazing playing for them.

Seeing as England will get knocked out first decent team they face, are there any other players with Villa connections likely to play in the World Cup..?

Elmohamady, Jedinak and Bjarnason of the current crop.

Off the top of my head, any of the likes of Milner, Young, Cahill, Walker, D**ph, Bertrand, El Ahmadi (as you spotted), Benteke and Gana Gueye may well be involved if we just include players "with Villa connections".

I've further discovered that Mustapha Hadji is Morocco's assistant manager... so let's broaden it to ex-Villa players managing/coaching at the World Cup too.

Shame Scotland didn't make as our right back left bqck would have been there.

Only if he ended his international retirement. The Snodfather would, most likely, have been in the squad. Although he might have left Villa by then unless we make his loan permanent.

If we are including coaching staff with a Villa link, there is a relatively obvious contender.

Amavi's not out of the running for France, particularly if Mendy doesn't get fixed in time.

How could we forget Gareth a great Villa man now the Manager of  one of the favourites to win the WC ( in the eyes of popular press before a ball is kicked).
