The bells are ringing for the claret and blues

The fans are singing for the claret and blues
Hate that song and glad we stopped singing it. It always sounded like a load of grannies on a coach trip to me.

Not if it’s sung properly and not like a choir

My granny, who was possibly the sister of UKR's great granny, was the only person I know who knew all the words of An Old Shirt Of Claret And Blue.  Take the piss out of her Villa bona fides and you would be on your arse.  They don't make grannies like that any more.

I cringed when it started up at Reading last season just as I cringed when tens of thousands of Villa fans were singing Rockin' all over the World at Wembley in 1994. In both cases it wasn't the spontaneous actions that some on here like to think - it was just fans singing along to whatever shite the PA announcer happened to be playing after a great win.

Fans sat around me at Wembley in 94 were actually singing along to the Coca Cola "Always the Real Thing" advert song when they played it over the tannoy.

Plenty of decent local Metal songs we could use.
What makes you think the majority of fans want to listen to / sing a metal song?

It is just so recognisably a Manc anthem though.  It is strongly associated with Manchester, and the band who sings it have a connection with Manchester City.

I’d have been against singing it when they were shit but they are really good now so it’s great to be associated with such a good team.

Keep on Running The Spencer Davis Group. Upbeat, you can clap along and the words aren’t that hard.

So it’s best sung as a solo on the Holte end then?
