I was confident we'd beat Brentford so I'll just wait and see

I presume we'll play the same lineup as Barnsley - we have to really

442 does mean we might cede a bit of possession - you're trading that for extra goal threat when you do have the ball.  I can see the crowd getting frustrated

Yep, especially as none of them featured on Tuesday night.  The one issue that concerns me with us playing 4-4-2 is the prospect of getting overrun in midfield, especially with Whelan in there.  If that begins to happen then I suppose Onomah could always come on and we could go to a 4-3-3 should that be the case.

Also we let Barnsley come onto us which gave the front three more space.  If Forest sit back and let us dictate the pace, it could be a real bore-fest, so no change there then I guess.

You could switch it so that Snodgrass or Adomah plays centrally in more of a 4231

I think it can work, but we either need to play counter attacking football or be so in your face that the pace of the game is more important than the numbers in central midfield. But whether Whelan and Hourihane can do that is obviously questionable

All this stuff you guys are suggesting is too complicated for our Manager. Saturday evening is going to be the normal tedious stuff and if any  form of chaos breaks out we will win or even lose however that is unlikely.

True, but I guess it depends on their shape and where that extra midfielder is.  If like they have a defensive midfielder like Brentford did, then you could make the change you mention,(although one of the strikers could drop a bit and mark him).  If the extra man is more advanced, then you might need to change and add a holding player to look after him.

I guess it comes down primarily to scouting other sides and then being flexible enough able to make changes throughout a game.

                             Johnstone

Elmo        Chester         Terry          Taylor

                      Doyle -Hayes

Snodgrass          Hourianne            Adomah

                                        Kodjia

                            Davis

From the off move the ball with slick tempo passing and get the ball wide

3-1

I reckon we'll click and thump them 7-0.

They'll even have to put (Seven) after the number just to confirm for everyone.

I'm still smarting from my first ever game - April 1978 Us 0 Them 1 with a penalty that never was.  So let's fuck these fuckers 5-0

Swap Doyle-Hayes with Whelan and I think that is what we will see.  Bench might look something like (guessing Lansbury and Jedinak are injured):

Steer, Bree, Samba, Onomah, Bjanrnasson, O'Hare, Hogan

I don't want Bjarnasson anywhere near Birmingham, let alone the bench.  The bloke is a bomb scare.
