Any needing to travel via  Manchester split your ticket at Hudderfield and catch connection from there rather than Leeds - saves you £££££££

If travelling from Birmingham split your train ticket as follows:

New Street to Derby
Derby to Sheffield
Sheffield to Barnsley

If travelling from Birmingham split your train ticket as follows:

New Street to Derby
Derby to Sheffield
Sheffield to Barnsley


In the week they do an 8 quid single ticket from Tamworth to Chesterfield. Chesterfield to Barnsley return is less than a tenner aswell.
