It goes against my nature to stick up for United but I thought he made a genuine challenge for the ball as opposed to a cynical 'professional foul'. I thought a yellow card and a penalty was the right decision.

Disagree, Hazard was denied a clear goal scoring opportunity

That was as clear a penalty as you’ll get and also a clear goal scoring opportunity. Should have been a red.

Makes a game of it.  I agree Toronto, why the hell was that not a red card?

Yep. That Jones got any part of the ball was incidental. The foul was already committed.

The rules have changed. If it was outside the area he’d have got a red. Inside it’s a pen but the player stays on.

The only thing I can think of is the angle at which Hazard would have shot. That is, had the foul been more central it might have made it an easier decision. That or the ref bottled it.

phil dowd mk 2...Michael Oliver.Although with this double jeopardy law it comes down to the refs interpretation, regarding intent.

Why didn't he slap on the Var to re-view?

You can tell with his body language he was going to bottle that...

Let's hope Phil Jones doesn't make the cut in Russia too.

That's even weirder.  He's about to shoot, and potentially score and is only five yards or so from goal.  Whereas, he has 20 to 30 metres to travel towards goal and get taken down and THAT'S a red? It doesn't make sense to me.  That said, the F.A. are involved, run by cretins, so why does it not surprise me?

The goal for Chelsea was the best thing for this game. Otherwise despite spending billions Mourinho the boring fuck would have done everything possible to pinch this 1-0 late or on penalties.

Phil Jones is going to the World Cup. This makes me chuckle a lot. He is really shit.

Chelsea winning yet another trophy would get on my tits, especially as they'd move ahead of us to 8 wins. However at least it would be misery for The Moaning One and his negative football and the Manc fans.

He's exactly what Allardyce would be like if he was manager there. Negative percentage crap despite spending hundreds of millions.

I didn’t know that about the Chelsea trophy count. Knowing that, I think I’d prefer May Utd. Though really, who cares!
