Fulham ain’t been to Wembley since 1975!!
That must be a record for a club that size.   Any stats on other biggish clubs absence from Wembley?

It's strange how a few years in the Premier League can make a club seem bigger. I always thought of Fulham as the archetypal second/third division team, a sort of southern Barnsley.
Maybe, but with the play offs and Johnston Paints cup etc,  many many clubs have been to Wembley.

I am actually happier that we would play Fulham in the final if we get through.

I think at this stage it could go either way with any team on the day, so I didn't particularly see us as more likely to beat Derby. I just know that if we lose, Derby have Rowett and Jerome, which would make losing to them more painful on our return, whereas Fulham were actually 3rd, and I've always quite liked them, so I'd find it at least a little easier to be philosophical and wish them well.

That said - I can't quite get my head around the fact that we have to do that thing we have just watched tomorrow, and hopefully again at Wembley in a couple of weeks. I have actually been through this process before but I had forgotten how nerve shreddingly horrible it is. I feel quite sick.

Me too. I can just about cope with big games if I have a couple of pints beforehand but I drive to Villa Park so am stone cold sober with undiluted nerves.

No worries about tomorrow IMO. Fulham will be a lot more difficult though

Well, bear in mind all Premier League sides have played there this season because Tottenham are borrowing it and that the biggest club outside the Premier League played there twice in 2015 and it doesn't leave too many options.

Best I can come up with is Forest who won the Full Members' Cup but lost the League Cup Final in 1992. They haven't been back since.

I believe that Accrington Stanley and Crawley are the only League clubs out of the 92 to have never played at Wembley.

The George Best/Bobby Moore era probably boosted them. Plus the Johnny Haynes side did Ok (I assume) in the early sixties.

Fair play to Fulham for turning the tie around against a in-form Derby side.  They are probably the best team out of the four in the play-off's so if we get through that will be the true test.

How did SHA beat Fulham on that showing? We beat them at VP. Perhaps away from their little stadium they won't be as good?

How many shots did they have on Friday? They ain’t all that. Like us, they are capable of being very good or very mediocre and they’ve stuttered against some poor teams.

Bugger, you win! 1988 for the Sherpa Van Trophy. You could argue they've been unlucky to miss out having played a playoff final at Cardiff and an FA Cup semi at Villa in the meantime. Still, I'm officially sacking myself as Forum Head Statto and hand the crown to you!

Angus Loughran has just logged in, he's asking if Preston are still classed as a big club or not anymore...

Edit: Completely forgot they were in a play off final in 2015 so looks like I'll have to abdicate already!

They've been to Wembley a few times in recent years... you might remember a fairly hilarious Playoff Semi-Final against some team or other from the Coventry Road.

Yeah, they won quite recently. Beckford scored IIRC. Mr Amfy was fairly pleased, I assume.
